Chapter 11
Melissa's POV
"Owww." I groan as I wake up the next morning, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings, trying to remember where I was.
"Ah shit, we fell asleep in our hiding spot." Mutters Jake, his voice full of sleep and his hair rumpled deliciously.
"Alex and Blake suck at seeking." I moan and Jake chuckles. Last night we found the perfect hiding spot in this old tree fort, we waited so long for the boys to find us we fell asleep.
"Anthony is gonna be pissed at us Jake." I say and he rolls his eyes.
"If I got a loonie every time Anthony was pissed at me, I'd be rich." He says and it's my turn to roll my eyes.
"Whatever let's just go, I'm starving." I state and Jale shrugs, following me down the rotting ladder.
Jake leads the way, in what I hope, was the direction of the cave. As we got closer I could smell bacon and my pace sped up. Finally the cave came into view and I could see everyone enjoying a campfire breakfast.
"Look what the cat dragged in." Says Mia and I smirk at her.
"If it weren't for Alex and Blake's shitty seeking skills, we would've been back last night. Unfortunately we fell asleep waiting to be found." I explain, earning a glare from Blake and Alex and a laugh from everyone else. Jake and I moved towards the food and I started choking down, avoiding eye contact with Anthony.
"So what's the plan for today?" Asks Justin and we all turn to look at Anthony.
"The usual, cliff diving, snorkelling around the shipwrecks, beach, whatever you guys feel like doing." He explains and I tense up before relaxing once I remember I brought a rash guard to swim in.
"Sounds awesome, I'm going to go brush my teeth and change." I state grabbing my bag and heading to the public bathroom.
--------------
"Why do you swim with a rash guard on?" Asks Mia and both girls turn to look at me while I glare at them.
"Really none of your business." I reply coldly and they both stare at me while I tug at the sleeves of the blue material, trying to ignore the hurt looks in both their eyes.
"Melissa we're your friends, you can tell us." Says Hallie and my heart swells at the thought of being their friends but I kill that emotion and put a smirk on my face.
"You're Anthony's friends, not mine." I reply colt, ignoring the sad looks on their faces as we come back to the cave. The truth is I wish I could be their friend, but certain people in my life won't allow me to have friends, they'll take them away from me just like they have done in the past. I refuse to be the reason that someone else gets hurt.
"Are you girls gonna jump??" Yells Jake I nod.
"Are you guys jumping?" I turn towards the girls and they shake their heads.
"Are you insane, you could get hurt, the boys are crazy." Says Mia and I roll my eyes. Jumping off a cliff was the least of my worries.
I looks down and decided where I wanted to jump, taking a few steps back, I took a running start and jumped as high as I could and than I began to fall through the air. I let out a laugh, enjoying the wind whipping my hair around and than I was surrounded by water. I swam to the surface with the biggest grin I've ever had on my face.
"Well?" Jake asks, swimming towards me and I smile at him.
"That was fucking awesome." I squeal and he laughs.
