Chapter 14
Mel's POV
"This hotel is awesome!" I yell, flinging myself onto the bed in the room I'll be staying in while we are in my home town Toronto. The Preston's are loaded and payed for two suites, John Anne and Aria are in the suite next to ours, me, Jake and Anthony get this one. I got the master bedroom in the hotel room, the boys got the one with two twin beds.
"My family is going to explore. Are you guys coming?" Asks Anthony and I shake my head.
"I've got a few things to take care of. " I say and Anthony nods.
"I figured you would. Jake's going to drive you though." He says and I glare at him.
"I grew up in this city, you seriously don't think I can take care of myself?" I say and Anthony rolls his eyes.
"Please, I'm not worried about you getting lost, I'm worried you're going to get into trouble." He says and I glare at him.
"You didn't care the last 9 years when I was so why don't you take your request and shove it up yo-"
"Anthony, I'll go with her, now both of you shut up." Interjects Jake and I roll my eyes as Anthony grins.
"No sex in the truck." Anthony says as he runs out the door and my jaw drops.
"Douche." Mutters Jake and I see a blush creeping into his cheeks.
"Oh my god, you're blushing." I yell and he glares at me.
"Grab your purse so we can get a move on." He mutters and I laugh.
"Whatever you say lover boy." I say with a cheeky grin and he rolls his eyes at me as we move out the door.
"Tell me where to go." Jake says and I frown.
"I really would prefer you not see this." I state and he frowns as I tell him the directions to my old house.
"You don't have to be embarrassed Melissa." He says and I sigh, watching the area become gloom, I grew up in the poorest part of this city, our house has holes in the roof.
"Stop." I say once we are outside of the house, my home.
"You can wait here." I say and Jake laughs as he hops out of the car and follows me towards the door. I stick my old house key in the door and swing it open.
"Welcome to my humble home." I say, spreading my arms out and gesturing around the small living room/kitchen. My fathers old beer cans still litter the floor and I cringe at the scene. I walk over to the small counter and grab the picture I forgot to bring with me.
"I just want to check my room and make sure I didn't forget anything." I say and Jake nods, following me upstairs. I freeze at the sight of my blood stains on the carpet.
"Mel, I'm so sorry." Jake says, frowning at the stains and I shrug my shoulders, looking around the shithole that is my home. I grab the shoe box I forgot from under my bed and turn to face Jake.
"One more stops after this." I mutter and he nods.
"Have you always lived in this house?" Asks Jake and I nod, thinking back to the night my mother died, me being locked in my closet.
"My dad couldn't afford to move anywhere else so we were stuck here." I explain, looking around at my room one last time before walking out of it towards the steps, seeing trickles of my blood on them.
"Okay next stop is this convenience shop that I use to work at." I say telling Jake how to get there.
"Are we going to talk about what happened last week?" He asks, glancing at me. Since we almost kissed neither of us have brought it up until now.
