MELISSA'S POV"Who have you lost that's important to you?" He asks timidly and it feels like someone stuck a knife in my chest and twisted it.
Who haven't I lost? Everyone that at one time loved me has left me.
Every single one of them has been my fault.I laughed coldly at his question.
"You should've asked who I didn't lose." I said in a steely voice."Everyone that ever cared about me has been ripped out of my life, one way or another." I grind out, moving away from him but he halts my movement by grabbing my arm gently, like he's afraid to hurt me.
"Don't, don't leave. I wasn't trying to invade your personal life. I was just curious." He shrugs.
"Ever heard the expression curiosity killed the cat Anthony?" I question and he rolls his eyes and stands up next to me.
"Shall we go?" he asks and I nod my head, socially and mentally exhausted from the years I've spent trying to lock away memories deep in my brain, yet they are dancing behind my eyes so vividly I feel like they happened yesterday.
"Are you going to get in the car or nah?" asks Anthony in a funny voice that has my lips pulling into a tiny smile as I climb into the car. I need to give the guy more credit than I have, considering most people by now stop trying to be my friend.
"Anthony. You are probably the most stubborn person I have ever met." I state confidently and his eyebrows furrow.
"How so?" he asks confusedly and I look straight ahead.
"Everyone else I know would've given up trying to get to know me, but you just won't quit." I say, keeping my eyes glued to the road moving in front of us."You're worth the frustration of trying Mel. And I know you don't believe it, but you are." He says genuinely and I sigh but decide against trying to persuade him to believe me when I say I'm bad. It'll just lead to another argument and I'm not in the mood for that so for once in my life I shut up.
Once we arrive home at 3:00am I collapse onto bed and try to fall asleep, but unfortunately can't because of the questions Anthony asked me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning I rolled out of bed still wearing my jeans and shirt from last night and decide to not get changed. I run my fingers through my snarled hair and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
I open the door to find Anthony in nothing but a towel wrapped low around his waist, showing off his toned torso and v lines."Fuck!" I yell as I slam the door but he grabs it and opens it. I gulp and move back but I hit the hall wall and am cornered by him.
"Ever heard of this thing called knocking?" He questions and I feel my cheeks heat up.
"E-ever heard of this thing called a lock?" I question but it's super hard to focus when he's so close to me, especially when he's shirtless. his arms are absolutely beautiful and his perfectly defined abs are mouth watering... get your head out of the gutter melissa.
"Next time we can save water and shower together if youre so eager..." He trails off and I fake gage before brushing past him. I hear him laugh and stroll to his room,my heart is racing with nerves. I'm trying to figure out when exactly Anthony had this effect on my poor little heart.
Everything would be so much easier if he wasn't so mouth wateringly hot." I mumble to myself as I strip and jump into the shower.
Once I feel clean and my hair smells like strawberries i turn the water off and wrap a towel around my body. I look for my clothes and realize I left them in my room.
I poke my head out of the bathroom and see Anthony's door is open so he's gone downstairs. I walk quickly and quietly to my room. I've almost made it when I heard Anthony call from behind me.
