It was friday and both Cee-Lo and Christina had early morning meetings with The Voice producers at Universal City. Since Adam and Blake had new mentors, to keep things fresh and fair, the other two judges would be given new mentors also. Christina would have the support of Billy Joe Armstrong from Greenday and Cee-Lo's team's new mentor was Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty. Carson like that all the mentors chosen for the show, along with their well known judges, all had voices of their own that were very distinguished and recognizable. While between contestants, the judges played a game of who they thought had unique voices.
Christina said, "no one but Geddy Lee could ever front for Rush. If he left them, they'd never find a voice like his."
"That's a good one, ya, Geddy's voice as soon as you hear it, you know it's a Rush song," Carson agreed.
'Michael Jackson, rest in peace. May we all have a positive impact on the world like he had," Cee-Lo contributed.
"Amen," everyone said.
Adam stood up in his chair, "Freddy Mercury, one of the best male singers of all time."
"Now there's a man who knew how to put on a show, even if he did wear tights sometimes," Blake added.
"Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins," Christina offered up.
"His voice can be annoying, but it is different," Adam agreed.
Cee-Lo laughed, "if we're talking annoying unique voices, don't forget Axle Rose from Guns and Roses."
Christina laughed, "he definitely didn't have moves like Jagger." She winked at Adam.
Blake finally contributed a name, that Carson thought Christina would have said. "Ella Fitzgerald, her voice is up there on that list."
"Nice Blake, I'm impressed." Christina praised him.
"Okay we have time for one more," Carson said looking at his watch.
Christina smiled big, "Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots and later Velvet Revolver. Talk about being a rock star and living it too!"
Everyone agreed, Blake didn't know who Scott was, but Adam said he'd fill him in after they stopped for lunch. To Cee-Lo Adam said, "I would have said Janis Joplin, had it not been for Juliet Simms on your team last season."
Cee-Lo nodded in agreement, but couldn't say much as Blake blurted, just as filming the next contestant began. "Johnny Cash."
That made the other three judges laugh. Christina reached over and patted Blake's arm, "you got the last one in."
Then it was back to business doing their jobs on The Voice. One of the voices they listened to was pretty good, but nothing that really made any of the judges want to turn around their chairs. At the end of the song, when the chairs were automatically turned around, three of the four judges, couldn't believe the girl standing in front of them.
Cee-Lo sucked in his breath, "wow." Then louder he said, "honey, I regret not pushing my button because you definitely just made my heart skip a beat."
Christina rolled her eyes and exchanged a disgusted look with Blake. The country music star asked, "how old are you Lisa?"
The girl on stage, was wearing a lolita outfit that was way too sexy for TV. Lisa answered Blake, "I'm seventeen."
Adam mumbled to Cee-Lo, "jail bait."
Christina couldn't hold it in any more. "Lisa you've got a decent voice, a little pitchy throughout, but that could be just nerves. With experience that will go away. I like your style, but turn down the sex appeal. You're a pretty girl, you don't need to go overboard."
