Song of the Chapter: 2 On by Tinashe ft. ScHoolboy Q

After Thanksgiving, Trey met me at the train station in Center City. It was a two day trip and I only carried a Nike duffle bag.

Trey had a suitcase.

"Trey, you know it's only for two days, right?"

"I have to be prepared," he stated. We both went on the train and gave the tickets to the ticket person. We both sat down on our seats and immediately, I tried to get the Wi-Fi from the train.

"Damn, you're all on your phone right now." He sat in front of me and took out his MacBook.

"You're the one who talking," I retorted.

He chuckled. "I know. So, you practiced for the audition?"

"Yeah," I replied. I'd practiced every day for this moment. Janie called me one last time that I'm prepared to go and gave me the address and the hotel area. I told her that I'm doing an original song.

"You'll do great." He holds my hand, assuring me that everything's going to be okay.

"You too. Janie told me that you're going to be singing."

"I'm not going to try."

"Trey, you're going to see Michael Baker," I reminded him.

"I know but it's your thing, not mine. I don't want to intrude because maybe--"

"They think that I suck and you're the best because maybe you're a guy, have the looks, and the talent. I know that shit."

"That's sexist, you know that right?"

"Wow, you'd actually learned something in one of your classes."

He rolled his eyes. "I learned. Most of the time. But, I believe that you can do it." He holds my hand. "I know you can."

I smiled. "Thanks."

The train started to move and we was both quiet. Trey was on his MacBook and I was practicing.

I'm a nervous wreck because this is actually my break. My 'go big or go home' break. I haven't thought in a million years that I would actually show a record producer my singing abilities.

"So I heard that Sophie's talking to that guy," Trey started.

"Oh yeah, him."

"Jasmine, I know that Nate is your brother."

I sighed. I knew that he's going to know someday.

"How come you're asking about him now?"

"Even though that he kidnapped you, I wanted to you to say something. Shit, if he didn't let you go, then I would beat the shit out of him."

"Thanks for not saying anything, but I'm just sort of overwhelmed with the new brother thing. Why didn't my dad say anything?"

"Maybe he doesn't know that he had a son. How old is he?"

"He said he's 24," I answered. "But, he has my dad's nose."

"You should talk to Nate about meeting your dad.

"Nate is a big boy and can solve his own damn problems," I replied. "Besides, you talked to him on the phone before. He sounded like he's very determined."

He nodded. "Yep. Very."

The next two hours were a blur. The train stopped at Manhattan and Mom immediately called me.
