I walked slowly with my hands in the pockets of my black crotch-drop pants. My white headphones hung lazily around my neck, blaring music. My sleeveless white hoodie was in contrast to the gloomy weather around us. I yawned.
"Why do we have to go to school?" Kyle whined.
"Because we need to see how they're recruiting people into their ranks." Luke explained as he kicked a soccer ball down the sidewalk.
"Yeah what sprinkles said." I chuckled.
"Shutup." Luke laughed.
"Hey guys." Kevin spoke up.
"What?" I asked looking over my shoulder at him.
"Promise me you wont hurt anyone, especially you T.J" He said as the bus pulled up.
"I would but you know, teens are horrible." I said I walked onto the bus. I smirked as everyone stared at me. I smiled and sat in an empty seat. Some kid who was about twice my size stood in the aisle outside my seat glaring at me. He gestured for me to pull my headphones off. I pulled them off and looked up at him.
"Yes?" I said calmly.
"Freshmen shouldn't talk trash about seniors." He said cracking his knuckles.
"Are you, threatening me?" I asked slowly.
"Yeah."
"Ahhh" I said nodding slowly.
Just then he dropped to one knee as Luke kicked him in the back of the knee. I slammed my fist into a certain spot on his jaw. We bumped fists as he slumped over unconscious. I looked over at the bus driver who was looking at me and chuckling.
"So am I in trouble?" I asked. "Nope, I didn't even see that bully get knocked out. I don't think anyone else did either." He said smirking.
I nodded and took my seat again. I felt the seat move slight and turned to see some girl sitting next to me. I did a double take to see it was the hunter I thought I had killed. Or at least I thought it was her. The sour look on her face convinced me it was her. She must still be mad I beat her, good thing I covered my face. I chuckled and looked at her.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."
She scoffed. "Shut up."
"Oh what did you lose a fight?" She narrowed her eyes at me.
"No. But those rebel scum and the bullcrap their pulling against the government is horrible." She scoffed.
I bit back a smirk. "What makes you say that?"
"They are trying to overthrow the perfect world this government created."
"They're brainwashing the public."
"That's not true."
"How would you know if you're being brainwashed?"
"How would you know? You sound so sure of yourself."
I flashed her a glimps of my hidden eyes, they were a golden yellow with black slits. I blinked and they returned to normal.
"I can see things others can't."
"What happened to your eyes." She asked.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." I chuckled and went back to looking out the window.
Soon enough the bus pulled up to the school and we got off. After going over the plan one more time we separated for our classes. Vincent, Luke, and I made it to our first class which was computers. Vince took a seat closest to the teachers desk. I took one at the front of the class and Luke sat next to me. I tapped my earpiece.
"Vincent can you get into the data base of the school's main hard drive from here." I whispered.
"I can try but their firewalls are gonna take a lot of time." He replied. "Just don't get your phone taken away." I warned. He lightly chuckled.
"I wont."
We listened to the teacher speak about what we would learn that year before passing out the paperwork for the class. I scanned over it and turned to luke.
"This class is gonna be easy." I smirked. He just gave me a nod and a smile as he kept reading the paperwork.
When the class was over I made my way to Vincent.
"Did u get anything?" I asked eagerly.
"Yeah. But we'll have to wait until we are away from prying eyes and ears before I tell you." He said in a low voice. I gave him a small nod before I looked over my shoulder to see Luke.
"Hey Luke. In your next class, stay silent and listen to the conversation going on around you. Gather intel so we can regroup at the base." I ordered. He gave me a curt nod before walking in another direction. I turned to Vincent.
"You do the same." I told him. He smirked.
"Don't worry about me, I got this." He said as we went our separate ways for our classes.
I walked into my second period and I could tell every kid in there had some kind of history with each other. I was news to them. I kept my head down and took a seat at the front of the class. I saw two hands land on my desk and looked up to see some girl staring down at me. I lowered my head and heaved an annoyed sigh.
"What?" I said plainly
"That's my seat." She said with an arrogant smirk. I examined the seat with a curios expression plastered on my features.
"That's funny, I don't see your name on it." I said with false confusion in my voice. She gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes at me.
"Listen here you freshmen scum-" she began but I cut her off.
"LOOK! Im not here to make enimies, nor am I here to make friends. I simply want to get my education. So stay out my way or Ill be forced to..." I made my body do a creepy twitch and my eyes changed red.
"Gut y-" I twitched and went back to normal.
"Inform guidance of the bullying." I gave her a smile and a thumbs up. She looked at me, shaking her head. Her face was contorted into one of true terror, like a child watching a horror movie for the first time. She backed away from me, calling me a monster and a freak. I love the new nickname...the monster.
"As cool as monster sounds. If your not gonna call me by my name call me T.J or Foxy. Monster works too." I said as I helped her stand before sitting back down.
Just then the teacher walked in, all the students were still staring at me open mouthed in awe.
"Great" I muttered. "I'm gonna be the talk of the school." I laughed as I listened to the teacher. She handed us all a syllabus and a few sheets of paperwork. Then she gave us the rest of the class to talk.
"Foxy?" I heard through my ear pierce.
"Yo?" I replied.
"You know that fourth period your taking with that special training?" He asked me.
"Yeah. What about it?" I asked, confusion evident in my voice.
"Its hunter training."
"What?"
"It's hunter training. You can get recruited through the program if you excel in it. Win Cadet of the month three or four times in a row and you get recruited."
"Thanks Videoboy."
"No problem." Vincent said as he ended the connection. The bell rang and I stood up, fully prepared to hurry up and get through third period.
