"Just relax." I muttered to myself as I stood at the end of the hallway, peeking around the corner to lay my eyes on the girl I would soon ask to the homecoming dance.
"If you don't ask her..someone else will." I muttered softly as I inhaled deeply, my eyes shut. I opened them slowly to exhale but my breath was caught in my throat as I saw a guy approaching her. I felt the panic slowly rising as I began to imagin the worst case scenario. I began walking forwards quickly. Hoping to reach her before he did. But my prayers went unanswered as he reached her first. But as he opened his mouth I cut him off..
"Hey Allison." I greeted with a nervous smile as I slid in between them.
"Uh hey kid. I'm pretty sure I was here first. So how about you take a joke before anyone's bubble gets burst." he threatened with a condescending smile.
"Huh?" I asked, false confusion in my voice as I turned to look at him.
"Oh I'm sorry sir. I didn't realize you wanted to have a conversation with my date to the dance." I said with a sly smirk.
"Oh yeah? Well does she know that you're her date to the dance?" he scoffed as he crossed his arms.
I gave him a genuine shrug alongside a simple question.
"I dunno. Hey Allison. Did you know that you were my date to the homecoming dance?"
I turned and smiled at the soft blush on her cheeks, feeling my confidence increase tenfold. She gave me a small smile in return and turned to the guy before giving him a small nod.
"Of course I knew. Why wouldn't I?" she said with a grin before giggling and putting her things in her locker.
The guy sighed exasperatedly before walking off; muttering something about 'stupid freshies'. I laughed and turned to Allison.
She was a head shorter than I with long brown hair that reached her mid back. Her eyes were a beautiful hazel color and seemingly danced with life as she looked into my eyes. She was dressed in a regular white t-shirt with skinny jeans and white high tops. She looked up at me and raised a brow.
"That's an interesting way to ask a woman to the dance." she giggled as she began walking towards her next class. I followed after her.
"Well I mean. I spent the past few days mustering up the courage to ask you and that guy just casually walks up. I knew he was going to ask you to the dance and I refused to let him beat me to it. " I said with a small smile as I walked alongside her.
"Oh really? So that's what finally pushed you to ask me?" She grinned, her voice teasing. I gave her a small nod as I glanced over at her.
"Indeed it did. So what time do you want to get picked up. Because I was thinking of taking you to dinner first or something." I asked with a small laugh.
"Well aren't you quite the gentleman." She complimented with a smirk.
I have her a soft shrug and opened the door to our next class for her.
"Oh this just keeps getting better. What are you gonna do next? Pull out my ch-" she was cut short as I pulled out her chair for her and sat next to her.
My eyes locked with hers; bored, half lidded eyes met widened and shocked hazel ones. Bored eyes locked with confused ones.
"What?" I asked with a slight frown as she continued to stare at me. She seemingly shook her head as she snapped out of it.
"N-nothing.." She stuttered out as she stared at me.
"Uhhh okay?" It came out as more of a question than an actual statement.
