Chapter 4

Eliza

The next day was tiring and hard. The whole day was spent trying to find what I was good at, so then they could see who my parent was. It was obvious that sword fighting was my skill, me being a natural at it. Sylvia took me through it all, showing me archery, canoeing, gardening, hand-to-hand combat, helping with the horses and making weapons. I was also shown The Big House, briefly. Eventually I got too tired to continue so I was allowed to rest in the Hermes cabin until dinner.

I soon found myself drawing. Drawing was one of my only hobbies, other than reading and swimming. It helped me keep my ADHD under control. And I was surprisingly good at it. I drew to express my feelings and to put whatever I wanted to say into pictures. I used to draw my boyfriends to impress but that got boring and stupid.

Today I found myself drawing Ryder. It looked so realistic that I felt like leaning in and kissing the drawing. Then I realised I had started drawing another picture. It was of the oldest child of Athena in camp, a girl called Annabeth Chase if I remember rightly. Soon I had drawn pictures of Ryder, Annabeth, Sylvia, Haley, Chiron and a few other random kids from camp.

Slowly the cabin started filling up again, with kids coming back from training, kiss grabbing their equipment and clothing and the occasional kid to stay. I started speaking to this boy who was about 15 His name was Peter Randwick and he hadn't been claimed yet either.

"So who do you think is your parent?" I asked him.

"Probably Dionysus or some other useless god." He said looking ashamed at himself. "Don't tell Mr D that!"

"What! Is Mr D, Doinysus?"

"Yeah! Didn't you- oh right your new."

"But no, I think that you will be with some awesome god, since you are really good at so many things. Don't put yourself down" I said.

"What about you?"

"Um...I wouldn't know, since I haven't been here long and don't know of many gods, but it would have to be a goddess since I know my dad is mortal."

"I can bet you that you are a Daughter of Aphrodite, since you are the only thing anyone is talking about. You have got all the boys here at camp dragged in...including me." He was blushing madly. My eyes widened. He said I had all the boys drawn in. That always used to happen, but I would have never thought it would happen here, of all places. "But I would presume your taken by some very lucky guy" he said quickly, noticing my expression. He looked down at his shoes. Damn! Then I remembered that I was meant to have met Ben at the beach yesterday. I would probably never see him or any of the others ever again.

"No" I shrugged.

"Anyway, um, are you ready for capture the flag tomorrow?" I used to play capture the flag in park when I was 5 years old, surely we weren't going to play that.

"Capture the flag?" I asked.

"Oh yeah- new, right, why do I keep forgetting- Capture the flag is like the little game that you use to play, except we use weapons and real swords." He grinned.

"Um...cool"

"We are so lucky to have you and Ryder on our team. The two best swordsman on our team! Yeah! I guess I will see you at dinner" he said as he walked off with his clothes which he was to get changed into.

Dinner was exactly the same as the last, except I didn't get a message from my mum. I collapsed onto my bed when bedtime came.
