Chapter 9

Eliza

I looked around at everyone's gasping faces. I knew that I had to keep my cool, but inside I was petrified. I saw Ryder look around, worried.

"I am very unhappy to tell you all this. The gods have demanded we find it, before our world perishes." He looked around, pausing to see any interrupters. But none came.

"So Eliza here has decided to go on the quest to find it again." All eyes turned on me. This was my cue.

"Yes, as Chiron was saying, I have decided to go on the quest to find this lost artefact."

"Artefact! It is more than an artefact! It's what keeps our world together! Plus no other demigod has found it yet so why do you think you should go." Said the girl, Clarrisse, from the Aries cabin. She eyed me suspiciously.

"Exactly! No other demigod has found it yet so why shouldn't I be the one." Clarrisse went to argue back but Chiron put his hand up for silence.

"Come on girls! This is no time for fighting. We are meant to be working together." Chiron said. Every one sat quietly, letting me keep talking.

"As I was saying, I have decided to go find the Gods Pride, and save the gods and ourselves."

"Eliza, for this quest to go forth, you would need to have people to accompany you and assist you on your journey." He said it as a question, rather than a statement.

"Yes Chiron. For this quest I would like Ryder Heades to come with me. The last person I don't mind."

"Well then. Would anyone like to volunteer to go on the quest, knowing it will be dangerous and you may not return." Chiron looked around the table. No one said anything. He took his breath to speak, when a voice came.

"I would like to go on this quest." Everyone turned their heads to see Peter standing at the door. Before anyone could object he quickly added "Who knows, I could find something useful to do." He hadn't been claimed yet, so Chiron wasn't very easy to persuade, but after a while of trying he finally gave in. I looked over to the corner of the room to where Annabeth stood. She hadn't said a word throughout the entire event. I noticed rims of red below her eyes. She had been crying? Such a tough girl and she is crying over this?

The whole event had come to a stand-still; no one could think of anything to say. Finally Chiron broke the silence.

"Eliza, you will need to go up to The Oracle to get your prophecy." I stood up from the table and followed Annabeth into an attic. She pointed at and old wrinkled mummy.

"That is The Oracle. Ask for your prophecy." She left straight after, leaving me in the small cramped up room, with a mummy. I walked over to it and touched its thumb, which crumbled away, onto the ground. I yelped. I stopped and took one deep breath. I had to do it with caution.

"I would like my prophecy." Slowly the mummy's mouth opened, forming words. I was on the verge of fainting. The prophecy came slowly so I could remember the whole thing. It spoke like a young women, which was what frightened me most.

"'The three together would choose their fate;

Being drawn in by the glowing bait;

Cheers will create the game;

Where love and desire will be seen the same;

Soon the god will sit alone.

Bearing a name on his mothers throne.'"

Then the mummy closed its eyes and I sat down. I recited the prophecy in my head several times. It made no sense. Bearing a name on his mothers throne? Love an desire will be seen the same? Being drawn in by the glowing bait? What did it all mean? Which god would sit alone. Then a knock came from below, disturbing my thoughts.

"Are you ready to come down yet?" Said Chiron. I came down the mini step ladder, answering his question with my actions. I didn't want to recite the prophecy but I knew it was our only hope.
