Chapter 10
Eliza
"Ok recite it once more." I sighed at Annabeths request.
"Ok here we go.
'The three together would choose their fate;
Being drawn in by the glowing bait;
Cheers will create the game;
Where love and desire will be seen the same;
Soon the god will sit alone.
Bearing a name on his mothers throne.'" I had, had enough. All I wanted to do was pack then by on my way. I put my head into my hands and let them rest there.
"I don't know what to make of it. It is pretty short and not many clues. Well, it says "bearing the name on his mothers throne' so it probably refers to a female goddess. And it also says something about love so I guess you guys are going off to Aphrodite!" She said leaning back, implying that her work was done.
"Woah, woah, woah. That's not enough! We barely know anything about the gods, let alone where their stationed at!" I said standing up, putting my hands firmly on the table top. They expect us to go on some quest, and they won't even tell us where to start!
"Then isn't it good that you know someone that does. Aphrodite has been quite frisky at the moment, moving about a lot. It is rumoured that she had an affair with Hermes. Start there. Find Hermes, then the path should be clear." Said Chiron. I was willing to argue with the others but there was no way on earth that I was going to start a blue with him. I sat back, slumping about.
I walked back to my cabin alone, thinking about the meeting. Where were we supposed to find Hermes? Camp Half-Blood was hard enough, without having to go out on a quest. I get like screaming, screaming how unfair it was. I know that I was the one that volunteered but at least try to give us some clues! I heard someone running towards me and ceased my unhappy grumbling.
"Eliza stop, we need to talk." I felt Annabeth's arm grab onto mine. I was about to shove her off when I turned and looked at her. She looked desperate so I followed her. We went down to the beach and sat down. We looked at the waves, so blue with the sun bashing down on them.
"Sorry about earlier. Like, I really don't mean to be of no help. I guess it is just hard to get over the fact that Per-my boyfriend is gone."
"It's ok, I understand. I will look for him on the quest."
"You would? For me?"
"Come on we are sisters- well half sisters."
"I actually called you down here because I know where Hermes is." She must have seen the surprised look on my face, because she continued on. "Yeah, I know right. How unlikely to see a god in town. Well not really. One of my best friends was a son of Hermes, and um..." I could tell it was quite an awkward topic for her, because her eyes were brimmed with tears "...so I guess, I got to see what Hermes looked like. Anyway, since Hermes likes picking up ladies, he spends a lot of time in night clubs. Last time I saw him, he was in the Frost, a really big night club in New York. Try there." She said, getting up and dusting her backside off. "Good luck" she said as he walked off to meet up with some Naiads.
I sat there, running through the information Annabeth had given me. The sooner we left, the more likely that Hermes was still there. I ran, at full pelt, back to my cabin.
As soon as I entered I dashed over to my bed and grabbed my backpack and started stuffing the essentials inside. Suddenly Trisha, a fourteen year old blonde girl who is also a daughter of Athena, jumped inside and said that Ryder and Peter were standing outside, with backpacks on. I smiled. Someone had told them I was getting ready.
"Trish, tell them I'll be out in a sec." I packed the last of my things as I ran out the door, giving Trisha a goodbye hug. "Thanks Trish, for everything. Can you tell Chiron that we are leaving." She ran up the hill to The Big House. "Okay guys. I guess its time to go."
