Chapter 7

"Oooh, look at you two." said Sam. Eliza and I were standing shoulder to shoulder, slightly leaning on each other, as if we couldn't hold our own weight. We both blushed and straightened up, glancing around, nervously.

"Oh shut up Sam." Said Eliza, her voice full of humour. I looked over to our tent and saw Annabeth walking over to us.

"Sorry to interrupt the love but can I have Ryder and Eliza for a quick meeting." We followed Annabeth over to a small tent, where some other older people stood. "Okay so, Ryder and Eliza you two are going to work together and come down the sides and grab the flag before they even figure out what happened. That way we can have everyone else defending, plus you two can easily defend yourselves with your swords." I looked over at Eliza. She was looking at Annabeth in total awe, as if she was some tactical god.

There went the horn. Eliza and I separated, both of us on either side of the allocated area. Our team consisted of children of Hermes, Athena, Aphrodite and a couple of others. I was quite worried about versing the children of Aries again. Last time it was total havoc. I sped away along the stream. Finally the flag was in my sights, and so was Eliza. Eliza rushed in on Clarrisse, a big bulky girl from the Aries cabin, slashing at her. Eliza suddenly started pointing out things that were wrong with Clarrisses technique, making Clarrisse mental. The slashing and poking lasted for a bit longer, during which time a crowd had arrived. no one dared disturb the fighters, knowing it could get medsy. Finally Clarrisse was down, after being kneed in the ribs. Eliza rushed over to the flag and grabbed it as if daring someone to challenge her. Then the horn sounded and I rushed over to Eliza, who still had the flag in her hand, and caught her just as she fell.

"There's my knight in shining armour. You took your time." She smiled weakly as I lowered her to the ground. He looked as tired as hell. Suddenly a symbol appeared above Eliza's head. I jumped, startled. An owl. Eliza had been claimed by Athena! Everyone else that was watching, looked in from a distance, worried that something dangerous would come of it.

"Eliza! You've been claimed!" I yelled. She looked up at the symbol above her head, with a worried look on her face.

"Who?" She asked

"Athena" I smiled. It suited her so well. Her love for organisation, drawing, reading and battle. It was all in her blood. Annabeth ran over to Eliza, followed closely by Chiron.

"Hello sister." Annabeth was smiling as she said it. She offered Eliza a hand up, which Eliza took willingly. Everyone was cheering. I looked over at Eliza, and we walked out of the forest followed by all our allies. I saw out of the corner of my eye, Clarrisse cursing at us in Greek. We went over to the cabins where we said goodbye to each other. As we went to our cabins she smiled apologetically at me, just before she was swarmed into a cabin of her siblings.

Sleeping was hard that night but then again sleep very rarely came, but I was always worried that if it did I might never wake up. Most demigods lived in that kind of fear, knowing that they could die anywhere, anytime, knowing that no where is safe. I spent the night staring at the roof which was decorated with some of my favourite posters. There was a video game one, a Harry Potter one and one about the stars. I was never sure why but I was always fascinated by stars, the way they glowed, the constellations they created and most of all they way they made my life seem easy. Finally I drifted into a nice peaceful sleep.
