I am gay,

And it's okay.

Because, it's not something you can change,

It's not a phase,

Nor a disease,

I won't be 'normal' after a while,

Because being gay is my normal,

Don't suggest a doctor,

Treatment won't help,

Acceptance will ,

I am not confused on who I am,

This is me ,

I am not a sin,

Being gay is not contagious,

So you can stand near me,

I am gay,

But it doesn't change my role in your life,

I am your daughter,

I am your friend,

A co-worker ,

Your classmate,

A part of your life,

I am gay,

Yet ,I need your love,

I need your support,

I need your ok to me,

But most of all, I still need you in my life,

I am gay,

And I won't lie,

I won't pretend to be someone I'm not,

I won't let your hate affect me,

When I have seen worse,

I won't stay in the closet,

And I will find love,

No matter what you say,

Because I am gay,

And that's okay
