There i was sitting in math. It felt great to now that Maya actually cared about me and she was the only one. But the secret ive been keeping- i still cut. Whenever i was depressed. I tryed to stop i really did but living in a house like mine... The only thing that calms me down is Hey Jude by the beatles. Whenever i get sad thats what i listen to. And suddenly im better. Maya has been visiting me almost evrey say which kind of annoys me, but im getting better with it. She also helps me with fashion even though thats not my highest priority.
"No Riley this is way prettier then that old vampire dress." Maya said to me one friday morning. "Were not livig in Transylvania!"
I smiled and grabbed black lipgloss "at least this?" She shook her head.
"You are a little ball of darkness. C'mon wear..." She looked around "here! Its called mint." She said mint like she said Josh. (My uncle who she had only met a couple of times but was obsessed with)
I tried on the lipgloss in my mirror it was a sort of light blue with sparkles.
"Beautiful!" She exclaimed
I grabbed the outfit she was holding. It was a glittery black over the shoulder shirt with the letter R on it, and some acid washed denim jeans.
"Hows it looking Queen Darkness?" Maya asked
I walked out. "Nah it doesnt match your lipgloss. Lets change that. How about rose gold?l"
"Maya can we leave?" I put on the rose gold
"Ok fine c'mon" she grabbed her backpack and scooted out the window
"BYE LOVING FAMILY!" I said . Luckily no one was home, but just in case, i took auggie and ran like heck.

On the bus ride, after we dropped auggie off, Maya was gushing about a new guy in her chemistry class.
"He has gorgeous brown hair and a great smile." She was playing with her locket, like she always did when she gushed.
Ger outfit looked like a movie stars. Her long blonde hair was in a fishtail braid and she had a white turtle neck with blue jeans. She was even prettier then any girl i saw especially me with me chopped hair.
"And he's from TEXAS!" She said and smiled. My face went white suddenly, i had a realization.
"IS HIS NAME LU-" she cut me off
"Lucas Friar? Is he in a class with you?" She asked smiling.
"No. Oh gosh no"
"What do you hate him?"
"Yes" i said and smiled and it was the truth to, he had turned me down the one time i got the courage to actually ask him if he wanted to dance.
As he got ln the bus, Maya hyperventilated and i just rolled my eyes
"Perfect timing cowboy" i said as he sat down on the seat across from us.
He smirked and nodded "Hey Riley pleasure seeing you again." He glanced an Maya
"You to Maya" her face basically was a tomato.
"Look at that she can change colors right before our eyes" i touched Mayas forehead
Lucas smiled and Maya almost fainted
"Nice boots Riley i thougt you hated country?" He said and smirked
I rolled my eyes. "Look of your trying to flirt with me its not working. I would kill you here but there are to many witnesses. Ok?" I said and smiled
"Got it mam" he said and tipped his hat. I hit my head to the hard subway seats "this is gonna be a long ride"
"Oh and by the way we dont say mam here Ranger Rick." I said smiling to myself for coming up with that nickname. I took his hat and put it on my head.
"Ha Hur" i tipped it and threw it up in the air.
Lucas shook his head and ignored me for the rest of ride.
