"What do you mean by 'Newbie'?" I ask, certainly confused. "Just because you woke up doesn't mean you're not fighting. You work for us now." David said, as if i was a slave. Who's "us"? What do you mean work? "I don't understand." I responded. "We are the Brotherhood. We are one of three factions that rule the world now. The others are the Conduits and the Heroes. Us from the brotherhood know how to handle guns and are expert marksmen. The conduits are people who's DNA was altered by the radioactive molecules in Nathan and now have powers and are led by some bitch who's birthday just happens to be tomorrow." Powers? Is he a little kid or something? "And the Heroes are just pussies who have trained in martial arts and hide very well. Their leader doesn't even show his face, ever." David continued, as if my perplexed face didn't show him that I was very lost. "We've got to get you ready for the games tonight. Our factions are enemies so we have games 3 times a year for rights to supplies. Today just happens to be one of them. I have to train you at the shooting range, lets g-" "What? Do you really think I'll just go with you?! This is too much to take in." I cut him off. "Look, this is life after the apocalypse now, so come and survive or go back to your coma." He said with an annoyed voice. "Ok..." I hesitantly followed. We walked into the gym of my old school, now turned into a shooting range. I asked David to excuse me so i could go to the restroom. As i walk in, i look in the mirror and see myself. 6 and a half feet tall, stubble on my chin and over my lips, long hair, and a long scar over my right eye. How can i see? Is this really my 18 year old self? Damn... I walk over to the shooting range, scared. "Pick up that .50 caliber." Commanded David. "That what?" I asked, confused. "Look down." On a small counter next to me was a small pistol that looked like it could kill a million people. I picked it up, but doubted i could use it considering it felt like it weighed 15 pounds. "Alright now i'll have 35 targets move around at 30 miles per hour, you're a beginner but this is the brotherhood, hit one of them at least and you'll be fine." He explained. I was really scared. 30 miles per hour? No normal human could hit those. The buzzer sounded as the 35 targets came down and zoomed left and right at the expected speed. I held my breath. Calm down. You can do this. Its the only way to survive in this world. I closed my left eye, surprised to see that i still had vision, and pulled the trigger multiple times. My instincts took over and my muscles moved so that they lined up with the bullseye of each target. I felt an adrenaline rush come over me. 40 seconds later i regained my senses. "Perfect!" Screamed the scoreboard next to me. I look next to me and I see David with his mouth wide open, not believing what he just saw. Did i just....? "H-holy sh*t, the boss needs to see this" David muttered. Who's the boss? After i stopped wondering, I realized there was a tv blaring music behind me. As I turned to watch, David noticed too. "Oh, thats the boss of the Conduits announcing her birthday celebration tomorrow. She will be having dinner with the finalists of the games that will be happening tonight. Remember, she is our worst enemy." I stare at the screen as a tall, intimidating teenage girl in a golden dress gets up from what seemed to be her throne. My heart sank.
"Emma?"
