When Dante was sure it was safe he pulled away from Sofia, slightly, looking around him and taking in the devastation around him. He was extremely aware of Sofia's fingers trailing down his chest before they slipped around his back and pulled him nearer to her.

"Dante, look at me please."

Dante did as she requested, and looked up into her captivating eyes. He looked away almost immediately. She pulled her hand from her back and set it under his chin, tugging him back to face her. She smiled softly.

"I'm sorry, Dante, I had no other choice, I didn't know what else to do."

"You don’t need to apologise. I shouldn't have given him the chance to take you."

"Dante, don't blame-"

"-You need to get out of here."

"Dante, are you okay?"

"I'm fine babe, but you need to go."

"Dante-"

"-Did he touch you?"

"No. Dante, are you sure you're fine?"

"Yeah. I was worried about you, you know?"

"Same here babe."

Dante smirked at Sofia and pecked her lips lightly, rousing the attention of the boy on her shoulder. He ruffled Drake's hair and kissed the boy's forehead, returning his attention to Sofia, his fingers drawing over every detail of her face.

His fingers tugged at her lips softly as he leaned in, her head tilting up to meet his. As their lips were about to meet, Drake tugged on his mother's hair, causing her to turn and look down at him. Dante's lips kissed the side of her eye as she turned her face away from him. She giggled quietly and kissed the top of her son's head, looking back up at Dante.

"Sorry. He distracted me."

"Is he okay?"

"Yeah, I think so. I dunno though, he's not really talking to me, or anyone."

"Was he hurt?"

"I don't think so, just scared."

"Drake, are you okay, were you hurt?"

Dante asked Drake who nodded his head and then shook it, nodding again afterwards, confused by his question. Dante looked at Sofia and smiled understanding what she meant.

"Do you want to go home Drake?"

He nodded at his mother rather than Dante, knowing it was her that he needed to persuade to go home.

"I want you to take your mother home Drake, no matter what she says you have to make sure she leaves here. Okay?"

"Um-hmm."

"Good."

"Dante, I'm not leaving you here."

"Yes you are."

Sofia sighed and looked at the area around them. The dark rubble covered nearly all of the ground, the place looked as though it had been demolished. Deep scratches were carved into the walls, doors were blocked in by the piles of stone and the centre circle that had risen up was unmarked by anything. The ceiling, which had been incredibly ornate, was no more, completely destroyed by the column that had pierced its beautiful design.

It wasn't safe here anymore, not that it ever had been. She knew she would have to get Drake out but she didn't want to leave Dante here alone, fearing that Vergil would hurt him, or even more dire, kill him.

She looked back at Dante meeting his serious gaze, her head hanging as she agreed that she would leave. Dante lifted her head back up and smiled at her, no hint of his coy smirk visible.

"Sofia, I don't want to worry about you."

"I know."

She answered while pouting. Dante kissed the top of her head and pulled her close to him.

"I'll be fine babe."

"How do you know that?"

"Because, this is me. I'm always fine."

"Dante-"

"-Trust me."
