Chapter Three:
Go Back To May

Eight weeks pregnant
When Maya woke up, she did her usual summer morning routine that consisted of waking up, brush her teeth, check her phone, get dressed and start her plans for the day.

Except today she had nothing planned until she got a text from Riley.

"Come over, need to talk to you. BTW mom and dad went to pick up uncle Josh from the airport, they'll be gone for a few hours."

Josh lives with the Matthews' while he's in NYU but stays with his parents in Philadelphia for the summer. he shouldn't be back yet, we've still got some time before school is back on.

"Josh is coming back today? He's not supposed to be back yet! Riles, I absolutely cannot face him right now." She replied then attempted getting ready while waiting for a response.

"You'll be fine Maya, he doesn't even know anything. Are you coming or what? Need to talk, it's important!"

"God, you kill me." sent
"be there in ten."

She threw herself at her bed and screamed into her pillow for what felt like hours but yet seconds at the same time. She finally forced herself up and got prepared for a long day to be had.

She suddenly got this feeling in her stomach, like it had flipped upside. She felt nauseous. Really nauseous and she couldn't hold it in, she ran to the bathroom and threw up. When she re-brushed her teeth, she got back to getting ready, and she decided to put extra effort into her looks since it was the first time she would get to see Josh for over a month and she wanted to look good by him.
She grabbed her phone, a piece of gum and walked out the door towards Riley's apartment.

I arrived at Riley's apartment and decided to go to the door since she was home alone and probably didn't want to stay in her room.

I knocked on the door and moments later she opened up.

"Auggie went to Ava's house, we're alone." She said walking back to the kitchen.

"What's so important that you had to talk to me right now? And what happened with Josh, why is he coming today?" I asked shutting the door behind me.

"Farkle." She said completely avoiding the Josh question.

"Farkle? Did you two break up? Is he hurt? Did something happen?"

"He's fine and we didn't break up. But he's your best friend, and he has the right to know before everyone else."

"Yes, Riles, I know. I'll tell him as soon as he gets back from his trip."

"Oh, you mean when you're two more weeks pregnant? I think he'll know when you're puking at the mere sight– no, scratch that– thought– of red meat. Maya ..."

"Okay.. I'll call him. God, I thought you said you wouldn't be so damn pushy."

All of a sudden, it came up again. My stomach flipped and I became nauseous. Riley was washing her and Auggie plates from breakfast so I ran to the bathroom.
When I returned she thought I just had to pee really bad so I left it at that, there was no point in worrying her since it was just the effects of the pregnancy.

Ten minutes later
"Ladiiees" He said as soon as he popped up on the video chat.

"Faaarkle" Riley and I replied in unison, our giggles mixed together trailing behind.

"How's Colorado?"

"Oh it's great! You guys have to come next time!"

"We wouldn't miss it for the world." I smiled.

"How is everyone over there? I miss you guys!"

"Actually Farkle... That's what we need to talk to you about. Maya needs to tell you something." She managed to keep a small smile, "It's really important and she can't wait 'til you get back." Riley said and my face dropped as I realized I was probably about to lose my best friend.

"You mean you can't wait 'til he gets back." I rolled my eyes with my soft mutters.

"What is it May?" He said using the nickname he started in 7th grade due to a history project.
I could feel a tear trying to escape and I did everything in my power, to stop it or at least hold it off.

"Maya, what's wrong? What happened?"

"I'm pregnant ..." I mumbled.

"What? I can't hear you."
I looked up at my laptop to a concerned boy, who I very much loved.

"I'm pregnant, Farkle," I cried out a little louder.

"You're ... You're what? That's n– no, that's not possible, but— you're only seventeen Maya! Is it Lucas'? Maya?"

"Why does everyone keep asking that? Who's else would it be!"

All of a sudden Riley jumps off the bed in a panic, "Wait! Lucas, stop!"

Before completely running out the room, she paused, turned around and whispered "You didn't even tell him."
She gave me a look that your mother or father would give you when they're disappointed in you, and she ran out, calling him back.

This cannot be happening.
