Chapter Sixteen:
Hotel FarkleNineteen Weeks Pregnant
The past few weeks at Farkle's have been, how do I put this, pleasurably mortifying. I love Farkle, I do. He was so sweet as to let me stay with him, although I'm sure it was partly because he didn't want to be alone for a whole month. Except he's kind of a clean freak and I only clean my room every week or two (depending on the mess) but no, Farkle is an every move kind of guy. You drop something, you change your shirt, you splash water on the counter, you mess up your bed in your sleep, Farkle is ready to jump and attack like a predator on it's prey. Maybe I'm a horrible friend for thinking this but I'm sort of thrilled his parents will be home this week. Not only because of his super annoying cleaning addiction but having to hide the fact that I left my mom and am now living with my bestfriend's boyfriend from both her and Josh is super tiring too.
I love Riley and I would never hurt her but who knows how she would react to this, especially since I got pregnant by her first boyfriend, even if he was mine when it happened. And Josh, most jealous boy on the planet, even though we aren't even really together, together yet."Good morning sleeping beauty." he sang as he walked into my room carrying a tray. He set it over me.
The tray was full with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a glass of orange juice with a yellow daisy layed out.
"A little going away present for you. I'm sure gonna miss you around here bambi."Memories flooding back, it was almost like he knew. He knew that was my nick name from Lucas before everything went to hell. Before I got pregnant and screwed up my life and my relationship.
The first time he told me he loved me, he called me bambi. His exact words "Man, I love you bambi." It may sound lame but it was everything to me at the time. I don't know why I care, I don't love him anymore, not if he can't love my child, but it hurts. Four years gone down the drain-"Maya? Maya- did you hear me? I said "where are you gonna go after this?" I can't just throw you out on the streets. I can talk to my parents, maybe you can stay longer."
I transferred the tray from my lap to the empty space in front of me.
"No, no. You've done enough, Farkle. It's time to face facts. Ya know, talk to my mom, or Josh or someone. Thank you. You're amazing." I smiled and hugged him.
He has been truly amazing but I couldn't just hide behind one of my best friends forever. After I finished eating, Farkle sharing with me, I cleaned my mob of messy hair and by the time I was out, my room was spotless. So I went and sat in the living room reading while he washed our dishes.
"You know we have a-- you have a dishwasher for these things." I ended ny sentence right as the door bell rang and I set my book down, getting up to get it.
"See and that's exactly how I know Ive been here far too long!" I chuckled as I turned the knob, revealing whoever was behind the door.
The "whoever" that was behind the door was Riley and her shocked, confused face.I nervously chuckled and called for Farkle, "Guess who?"
"Maya?" Riley said not taking her eyes of me standing in the door way, in one of Farkles t-shirts.
"Oh God no, Ri it's not what it looks like I swear!" He yelled behind me, getting louder as he came closer.
She just smiled, stepping in without saying a word and walked around as if she were looking for some thing else.
"Riley? What are you looking for? Maybe I can help yo--"
She cut me off "I'm looking for a reason why you're in my boyfriend's t-shirt at my boyfriend's house on our anniversary at 10:30 in the morning. Help me look for that!"
"Okay babe, sit down. Please." He said calmly walking her to the couch.
"Maya and I aren't sleeping together. Never have, never will.""Then what's going on?" She looked at me and back at him. I moved to sit on the opposite side of her as he.
"I was going to come and talk to you today. I just-- needed time. I left my mom's."
I guess Farkle could see I was getting upset and finished for me,
"Maya and her mom got in a fight and she left. She had no where else to go, with your parent's and Josh in college and Lucas, well Lucas. Regardless Riley, she's my bestfriend and she needed me."I looked at him with a thankful smile and he looked returned welcoming before we both looked back at her.
"You understand, dont you?" i asked."How long have you been staying here?"
"A month..?" I replied questioning how she'd react.
"A month?!" She jumped, "Hold on. You've been avoiding me, and acting like you haven't been fighting with your mom just so I didn't know you were here, for a month?!"
"I thought you'd react-- well-- like this. I'm sorry!"
"Maya you're such a dummy! Come here." She said holding out her hands for a hug. "You should've just told me."
I went back to Riley's house that night after talking to my mom and then bumping into Lucas. She had the day to spend with Farkle and I had it to get things together; but surely enough I was still lost.
"So spill; what happened today?" She plopped on the bed holding a handful of popcorn, popping one more into her already stuffed mouth.
"Nice to see you too." I laughed and then quietly looked down before continuing, "I saw my mom."
"Really--""And my dad."
"So then nothing's changed? What about Josh?"
"What about me?" He smirked as he walked into the room.
"Wait so you haven't even spoken to him yet?"
He walked over to us with worry on his face and quietly said "I was in class, Maya?" He looked at me.
"It's okay, it's nothing too serious."
He blew out a relieving sigh as he sat down at the edge of the bed and waited for me to explain.
"My mom and dad-- they're... back together. And I left them. I told my mom it was either us or him. So..." I threw my hands up gesturing.
"How long?"
I didn't want to answer.
"Maya, how long?"
I couldn't. He'd be too mad."A month!" Riley shot up and I gave her a glance of deathly stares until she walked out of the room, leaving us alone.
"So where have you been staying? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want to distract you from school!"
When he didn't respond and just kept staring, I knew he was upset and it would just be better if I told him about 'Hotel Farkle.'
"Farkle. I've been staying at Farkle's. He found me that night and made me stay with him. I didn't to worry you."
"That's my job to worry about you! And to worry about that baby!"
"No it's not! I'm not your wife and this is not your baby Josh!"
His face struck with hurt. I regretted those words already.
"Josh." I said with pity as he walked out, pushing his hair.
I ran into the kitchen to see him almost at the front door.
"Josh-- Josh stop, please." I begged throwing my hand at his shoulder. Before I could beg him anymore he spun around and grabbed my face, his lips meeting mine.
When he released, he looked me in the eyes and turned around out the door without saying a thing."What just happened?" I questioned, with the taste of his lips still lingering my mouth.
