-Shereen :)Today is the day Daisy was going back to college. We stood outside as dad helped her put her bags in the car. He was playing mother today, asking Daisy if she didn't forget this and that. Even checking to make sure. "I believe you took everything you need then" dad said to Daisy and looked at us as if asking us to think of something.
Mom was just there saying nothing. Her hands each rubbing the side of the other. That's the move people did when they were nervous sometimes,I just fail to get why she would be nervous.
My mother and I were not really good at this bye thing. It just felt like forever, like you would not see the person for years. I know it sounds a bit extreme but that is just how I felt. Although mom took it to a whole new level. Her eyes sparkling with tears. Now I see why she won't talk, if she opened her mouth or blinked tears would escape. She was just trying to be a big girl and hold it together.
"Taylor are you going to say bye to your sister?" Dad was not asking. He was indirectly telling me to go and say bye now. "Nope, she knows I can't wait for her to hit the ignition" that's me pretending to care less. Either way I found myself running to her and throwing my hands around her. I'm probably chocking the air out of her,but who cares.
"Gosh,I'll miss you"I murmured against her shoulder. My throat felt really dry,but I wasn't going to cry. It's not like she's getting married and is moving out, she's coming back very soon."I know, but I'm just a phone call away. You need to talk ring me anytime of the day okay?"Daisy assured me holding my shoulders for comfort and looking me straight in the eye. I nodded in response.
"She won't be able to call you if you leave this" Linda, our little sister said holding out the charger. "I know I can always count on you kid" there goes the best pals. My dad and Linda were so close. I bet my mom wish she had that kind of relationship with her husband. They would sit outside and talk about God knows what. She's really a daddy's girl.
"Dad,you do know she helped me right?" Daisy tried to hold in her laugh. She shook her heard then took the charger from Linda. "Thank you little one" I know Daisy said little one on purpose. She knows Linda hated that. Dad could call her kid though. He's special.
"I am not a baby!" There goes Linda proving my point. She even attempted to stomp her foot which just failed horribly. Hey it's the thought that counts right? Linda whispered something to dad which made both of them laugh. They stopped when they saw that we were giving them questioning looks.
"Mom I won't leave if you don't hug me" Daisy opened her arms ready for a hug. Mom smiled a bit before walking for the hug. "Oh honey, can't you just leave Friday?" Mom tried her luck on making her daughter stay two more nights. Her left eye let the tear escape.
"I love you!but that's what you said yesterday and we agreed that I'll stay one more night" Daisy kissed mom's head. Yesterday mom came home and asked Daisy to stay until Friday but Daisy said the least she could do was spend the night. She was supposed to have left on Tuesday but here she is Wednesday afternoon.
"We love you Daisy!"we all said in unison after mom counted to three. We do this every time one of us was going away for a while. Mom said the memory lasted long and no matter what happens the person will know they are loved back home. It is kind of comforting if you think about it.
Daisy reversed to the sport her car was before she drove off. Yep she forgot something. Dad and Linda started laughing pointing at Daisy. Oh, they made her forget something. "Very funny parls! Now give my phone back" I also couldn't help but laugh. Even mom laughed a bit. My phone was the first thing to take when I was going somewhere. I really didn't think it was possible to forget your phone. That's not why I was laughing though. No. Her face was the issue plus the walk. She walked like a zombie only faster. World war Z is coming live starting from my family. That made me laugh harder.
