"Ashley for goodness sake can we not talk about him?" I shouted at Ash without intending to. This was a get away from thinking about him. Of course I love seeing Ashley's mom but she just happen to be home at the right time.
"I knew you like him." Ash commented smiling at Em as though I confirmed her thoughts.
"Yes! So what if I do. Then what?" That was not a question believe me. All I wanted to do was give them food for thought. They both know I am not the dating type it's just not me.
"Oooh, I can't wait for you guys to open these. You're going to love them!" Ashley's mother saved me. She almost dropped all the three huge boxes she had. No wonder it took her a while to get back. Why she didn't ask one of us to help her is a question I'm asking myself. But I know better than to spoil this day - or night rather.
The boxes all had the same cover color. What made each distinct was the names pluged on top of each box. Mine was the last one on the ground. Em and Ash already started- not unwrapping but tearing- the covers of their box. Three big boxes dropped from the inside. I gave mrs Morgan the are-you-serious look. With so much passion I tried to catch up on Ash and Em with their boxes.
"A cap, Really??" Ashley's mom sat indian style on the couch biting her nails like a nervous 8 year old.
"Ohhh come on girls I'm getting impatient here" trust her to say that with our presents (gifts rather).
I know what you're thinking. How come Ash complained about her life with a perfect mother like this. Tell you what, this woman here still is wearing pants suit. On top of that a very professional pony tail hung on her head. So businessy. I know, I created that word. But point is she cares about business than her only child.
The same black cap from Emilys' box fell from Ashleys' box. They were both printer E.T. A on the front. Which company could this be? Is it a label maybe?
"Emily, Taylor and Ashley. Those are your initials." Mrs Morgan said poiting at the cap on Ems' hand as if answering my question. We all shaped our mouths into Os. "Here I was thinking it meant Emergency Transport Available." Ash said with a duh tone. To her it was obvious from the moment she laid her eyes on it but not some of us hey.
"Watch it Ashley." Her mother told her with a change of attitude. That was fast, I mean even weather gives a hint before it changes. There was a moment of silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Oh lord the tension is building as well.
Silence.
The only sound now was the unwrapping.
Sile..."OMG, O.M.Geeee!" Em exclaimed holding up a white very well designed shirt. Only, I didn't get the point of her squeek.
"An apple! It's two of them." There goes my best friend and her love of apples. I thought it would be something more breath taking. Bur trust my friend to scream for a red and green apples printed on her shirt. "You know you should have just said apples right friend dearest?" Ash commented not even looking at any of us.
Right there and then Ash took out her white shirt too. At this point I had stopped opening mine just thrilled with the events infront of me. Hers had a mobile phone with a word in it. Fashion. A heart followed the word. I have to admit this woman is really thoughtful and creative. That only made me wonder what I was gonna get on my shirt. I didn't waste any other second. I got back to my boxes.
My next box after the one with the cap had black jeans with a white capital letter T on the back pocket. That made me frown. How come I don't have a shirt?
