This is a feeling that nothing could ever live up to. The steady beat of my heart, the wind breaking against my face, the cheers of the crowd, and the power and control of the ball. I exhaled and picked up my feet moving faster across the field. I could feel my pulse quicken, but never had I felt so relaxed. As I found myself in front of the only player blocking me from the goalie and the goal itself, I stared at his jersey for a brief second, holding my breath and waiting for his move. He pulled forward and I swiftly dodged his attempt. Easily, I sprinted passed him, still in full control of the ball. After quickly weighing my options I finally aimed my feet and gave it everything I had.
A pair of arms wrapped around me and hoisted me into the air. The smile on my face widened and I screamed out loud victoriously as I was dropped back to my feet.
"Brooke you did it!" Jake yelled, grabbing hold of my shoulders and leveling or eyes. "You did it!" He repeated, then threw me over his shoulder laughing.
"We won!" I screamed.
Jake carried me towards the guys and set me down roughly. I felt my body spin and the guys all push into me at once, causing me to fall backwards.
We won 3-2, and I scored the winning goal. It wasn't the first time that this has happened, but against our biggest rival school, it felt damn good.
After the guys finally stopped attacking me they broached at how amazing I was. I was almost positive my smile would be etched on my face forever.
"You did awesome!" My dad praised before he pulled me in for a hug.
"Thanks dad!" I replied feeling out of breath from the excitement around me; people congratulating me and hugging me. My happiness was through the roof and I never wanted the feeling to end.
On the way home, Jake wouldn't stop talking about my final goal and my smile never faltered. We reached the house and I was great full to have the chance to shower. My muscles felt relaxed and not until I got out did I realize how exhausted I was.
I strolled back into my bedroom to find Jake lying across my bed holding his phone above him and typing something. He was clearly unaware of my presence causing me to roll my eyes.
Walking into my closet, I quietly shut the door behind me and leaned my back against it. I took a deep breath and smiled to myself. Things have been sort of stressful for me lately and I was amazed at how tonight changed everything and I felt happy again. Upon hearing loud voices outside the door in my room, I quickly grabbed a t-shirt and some soccer shorts to change into.
Some of the guys on the team showed up and were sitting around waiting for me in my room.
"So Brooke, we're taking you out for pizza to celebrate our win and your awesome goal." Cole said and ruffled my damp hair with his hand.
My lips tugged into a smile, "Thanks guys."

Waking up on Monday mornings will always be on my most hated list, along with a few other things...
"Your cousin is going to be here when you get home from practice." My dad said behind his newspaper.
I walked passed the refrigerator and grabbed an apple out of the bowl on the table before sitting down across from him.
I groaned loudly causing my dad to chuckle.
Natalie is my dad's sister's daughter. Their family lives about 30 minutes from ours so we were always seeing each other. Every so often, meaning a couple times a week, Natalie insists on coming over to 'hang out'. Although I'm convinced the only reason she comes is because she has a crush on Jake.
