It's Friday and I've managed to avoid Jake by getting a terrible cold. If I'm being honest though, this cold couldn't have come at a better time.
Not being at school meant I didn't have to see Chase or wear Natalie's ridiculous outfits. Unfortunately, Natalie is coming over tonight to stay for the weekend. She's been calling me all week and she's starting to call my bluff on still being sick.
I probably could have gone back to school yesterday but I'm gonna drag this cold out at long as I can.
Jake comes in my room every once in a while to see how I'm doing but I'm almost positive he's feeling that lingering uncomfortable atmosphere between us like me.
It's so thick that I can't even look him in the eye and all I see when I go to sleep is that terribly awkward moment replaying in my head.
I set my phone down on my bedside table, frustrated with Natalie and her stubbornness. She told me that she's going to take me to a party where she goes to school so that I can test my new look out.
I've decided that that's a terrible idea and I'd rather sleep.
But she said she wouldn't take no for an answer and I've learned by now that there is no point in even trying with Natalie. In the end she always wins.
There was a loud bang on my door that caused me to jump three feet in the air screaming. The door swung open and a bunch of guys came barreling in.
I scanned the room and noticed Chase wasn't one of them.
I made eye contact with Cole and his smile widened. "Told you she wasn't dead!" He cheered through his teeth.
"I thought you were dead. You never responded to any of my texts." Eric poked my side, standing next to the bed I was sprawled out on. "Coach is actually really pissed with you."
I groaned and rolled my body to stuff my face in a pillow. "What do you all want?" I mumbled.
Suddenly I felt someone jump onto the bed and straddle my back.
"Get the hell up Brooke, you're being pathetic."
"Yeah, don't let what happened between you and Chase bring you down."
"What do you do when you fall of the horse? You get right back up! There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. When life gives you lemons-"
"Okay we get it Cole." I heard Landon interrupt.
I pushed the body off my back and flipped over. The guys surrounded my bed so I sat up to look at them.
"Wait wait wait. You guys know about me and Chase?" I turned my head to see a guilty looking Jake. "What the hell Jake?" I screeched.
He stepped forward and patted the top of my head lightly. "They were worried about you. We all were!" He tried to justify.
Before I could respond I heard a voice in the doorway.
"Woah" Natalie gasped as she looked around at my unwanted visitors.
"Oh, come on in Natalie. The more the merrier." I sneered sarcastically.
