"Hmmm..." Pit hummed to himself. It was the crack of dawn the next day, and he was picking a weapon. He wanted to be prepared for whatever fighting had to be done. The last time he had fought Medusa, Viridi had sent some of her troops to retrieve the Three Sacred Treasures, and teleported Pit in to fight Medusa with them once they had been retrieved. Therefore, he didn't actually have much experience with the Underworld Army. It was ironic in a way, but Pit couldn't figure out why.Regardless, he wanted to be prepared. If Palutena saw him acting unskilled in any way, she might see it as a victory. That Pit clearly must be better off under her command. Well, Pit wasn't gonna let that happen.
"Hmm. Maybe...no, not that one. That one's weird." He passed from one weapon to the next, very unsure of himself. It wasn't just Palutena's opinion that mattered here. 'I really want Mistress Viridi to be impressed by what I can do,' thought the angel. If he managed to impress her, then he couldn't ask for a greater victory.
"Wait! Oh, duh, how did I not think of that earlier?" He practically facepalmed. With confidence bubbling forth, he lifted up the Crusader Blade he had used against Phosphora the other day. It had proven to be an incredibly useful weapon already, so why not?
Even if it was the 'Sword of Squareness'.
Pit examined the Blade's stats, wanting to make sure he was using an adequate weapon. It had an awesome five-and-a-half stars in ranged damage, though it lacked a single star in melee. It had a handful of decent modifiers, including knockback defense, weakening, evasion, dash charge shot and dash continuous fire. The pink angel grinned. A perfect example of a finely-honed ranged weapon. It would serve him well.

Pit tapped his foot. He wasn't necessarily impatient, but he was starting to wonder what was taking Mistress Viridi so long. The moment the thought entered his mind, her familiar voice sounded in his head.
"Oh! Sorry to keep you waiting, Pit!"
The gate opened, light pouring forth from the outside. Green light caressed Pit's wings, filling him with confidence. He made a running start for the door, leaping out when he reached the edge. "Eh, it's no problem, Mistress Viridi. I can be patient."
Viridi smiled. "Good for you, but you won't have to now! Underworld troops dead ahead!"
A Monoeye swooped in from the side to challenge Pit, but he quickly shot it down. "It's so weird, considering I don't know much about the Underworld Army. I pretty much only fought Medusa."
"Ha! That weapon of yours is pretty OP, so I don't think a lack of foresight is really gonna be much of a problem."
Pit's Crusader Blade ripped through enemies in an instant, hearts flowing to him almost nonstop. "That rocks! Man, it's been so long since I've seen any action! This'll be fun!"
Viridi snickered. "I like your enthusiasm, Commander! To think, you were apprehensive yesterday."
Pit was sobered slightly. "To be honest, I still kind of am. I just realize that moping won't make this any easier for anyone. Medusa's gonna go down, one way or another. Might as well do it with a smile!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the clouds around him turned dark, brooding, and red. A hand reached up from below them, and then a whole body.
Medusa glared at the tiny pink angel, eyes full of fire.
"Medusa!" Pit greeted angrily.
Medusa's glare turned into a smirk. "Well, if it isn't my favorite brats. How are your precious houseplants?"
