Imagine a happier ending to Twist and Shout

A old man lays in a hospital bed in San Francisco; staring at the ceiling.

"Dad?" Cassidy calls out loudly coming into the room.

The elder turns his head to the girl that walks in. His eyes light up with happiness as he sees her come in.

"Hey dad," the girl says in a shouting voice, for sake of the stubborn old man who refused to get hearing aids, taking a seat in the chair next to the bed. "Guess what I got for you?" She says softly before motioning for the nurses standing outside the door to come in.

The elder turns his head and sees nurses bringing a projector into the room. He watches them as they set everything up.

"I found this," she says holding up something the old man never thought he would see again. "And I came here and talked the nurses into setting this up."

She walks over to the projector and plugs things in. She then waves goodbye to the nurses as they turn the lights off on their way out.

Then the projector begins to whir.

The elderly man watches a camera focus on a young man. He waves hello to the camera and smiles brightly. The elderly man found the young one so beautiful.

I love you, the man on camera shouts voicelessly to the man filming.

I love you too, the man watching tries to say but his body is too old to form words anymore.

The girl in the room presses a button and goes backward on the camera to the beginning. She sees her father and a man she was named after kiss, her father holding the camera to capture the moment perfectly.

The elder man's lips form a word that was burned to his mind, and engraved on his heart, Castiel.

"I thought you would," the young girl trails off closing her eyes to fight back the tears. "I thought you would want to see this today because the doctor is putting you asleep today. He says your lungs aren't working properly." Tears escape her eyes.

The old man tries to reach his hand to grasp his daughter's.

Cassidy notices and grabs her adoptive father's hand. "I love you daddy," she tells him bravely.

The man's lips smile and mouth and I you.

The film continues to play.

A precious moment later, the doctor pops his head in. "It's time," he says sadly.

Cassidy wipes her the tears that have escaped her eyes. She forces a smile on her face trying to be brave.

Nurses come in, turn the lights on, and whisk the projector away.

"Wait!" Cassidy cries standing up quickly and running over to the record player that was collecting dust in the room. "Let him listen to this song before he goes." She says placing a record on and the needle on the record. "Please," she adds as an afterthought.

The doctor nods and she looks to her father as Elvis begins to croon through the room.

The old man's eyes light up with a smile and his lips form a smirk. I can dig Elvis.

Cassidy smiles understanding what her father was trying to say. She then pulls out her final surprise from her purse. She hands him a small photo, it was worn away from the decades and the creases made it delicate. When her father sees it he smiles sadly and tries to hold the picture.
