Imagine him thinking you're an undercover agent

You were sitting quietly in the back corner of a run down café reading your favorite book. You had started the book half an hour ago and was nearly through.

At the same half an hour ago mark a man had walked in surveying the area with a twitch stance about him. Every time the door open his finger would twitch as if it was about to defend himself but his face stayed composed. His eyes, however, glanced at you at strange but consecutive intervals.

He would look over at you and take everything you were doing in. From the way you moved a lock of hair out of your face, to the way you stuck your tongue out in concentration; even the way your hand groped the air while you searched for your tea eyes never leaving the book. Yet he also noticed something that raised a warning bell. You were reading abnormally fast for anyone.

The man swallowed the last of his drink, dropped a twenty on the table, and walked over to you. He took a seat directly across and then cleared his throat softly.

"I find it's easier to read a book slow so you can get the meaning." The man says looking at you. "I know who you work for," he growls softly so the owner can't hear. "Reading fast is a dead giveaway."

You glance up and blink a few times in surprise. "Excuse me?"

"Tell Coulson to leave me alone and I won't hurt you."

"I'm sorry, who are you?"

"Don't play stupid." The man growls before making it quite obvious of the gun in his jacket. "Walk out quietly, don't draw attention, and leave a tip and no one gets hurt."

Your eyes widen and you do everything he says while keeping an eye on the gun. He leads you outside and then into the forest that just had to be there.

"How did you find me?" The man asks pulling the gun out and pressing it to your neck.

"Who the hell are you?" You ask incredulously.

"Don't play games! You're new, I can see that but not well trained."

"Who exactly is it you think I am?" You ask your sass not leaving you.

The man rolls his eyes. "SHIELD agent." His tone makes it sound like an obvious answer.

"THE HELL!!!? I am a dance teacher for the local studio! I have never been to a SHIELD base in my life. Plus they disbanded or something. You say.

"So you're a dancer? Then how could you read so fast?" He replies not believing you.

"Part time fangirl." You answer.

He slowly lowers his gun  and you take your chance  whirling around, grabbing the gun, twisting the entire thing up and clockwise, and then bringing your other hand up and smacking him across the face. Your foot quickly whirls around and knees him in the balls. You then proceed to take the gun out of his hand and raise it above you and hit him in the head.

You click the safety mode off. "A dancer part time fangirl who took six years of self defense classes, hunts, has killed a bear with a bow, and part time kick boxer." You reply before shooting a warning shot past his ear.

"You're good," the man says appreciatively. "I'm Grant. Grant Ward."

"So now we're being courteous? Is it because you realized you're outgunned?" You ask angrily.

"No because I like you. And I am sorry about that. I am just on the run and you read way to fast for me to believe you weren't undercover."

Something about him makes you believe him. You click the safety back on.

"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)." You reply before offering him a hand up.

And that was the start to a beautiful relationship.
