The Vampire Diaries: Stefan Salvatore

Imagine: breaking up with Stefan

"Come on, Gem, stay with me!" You cried as you tried in vain to stop the bleeding. "You can't leave me to!"

With fumbling fingers you hit the call button again. She couldn't last much longer. And once again you were sent to voicemail.

"Please Gem," you sobbed as you pressed call in vain again before hitting speaker and taking one of Gem's hand and the other one still pressed to the wound.

"(Y/N)-" Gem whispered and you quickly grabbed her hand tighter.

"You're okay, you'll be okay," you cried trying to force a smile. You hit call again.

She coughs up blood making you panic even more. "You," she chokes on blood, "That's not true."

You take her hand and press it to your cheek. "Yes it is, Stefan's coming. He can save you." You told her as tears went down your cheeks. "See," you cry as you show the fortieth call to Stefan Salvatore.

Gem smiled sadly. "You're my best friend (Y/N) and this isn't and will never be your fault." She whispers hoarsely. "Tell my p-parents I love them. And tell them...." She trails off coughing. "I'm with Jeremy now and we are happy." With that she takes the hand you were holding and presses it to your cheek.

"No, Gem," you sob knowing there was nothing left for you to do. In pain and anger you threw your phone with all your might across the street.

You stay there holding the corpse of your best friend since second grade crying because she's dead from the brother of your boyfriend. You couldn't go the cops, how do you explain a vampire bite? Especially with the Sheriff beloved you were one.

You sobbed loudly tears coming faster. If only Stefan had answered the phone. You scream angrily. Every single bit of pain that you had kept at bay exploded in that one scream and it echoed through the ears of every single vampire in Mystic Falls.

Including the ears of your boyfriend who instantly recognized it as you.

You held the limp hand and whispered memories, whispered old promises, and things that could have been but never were.

"(Y/N)!" You hear the last person you wanted to see right now. "Are you alright!?"

Anger flooded through your veins. "No I'm not and guess what asshole neither is us."

Stefan gives you a confused look before looking at who you were holding. Without waisting a second he breaks his vein open and presses it to the lifeless body of your best friend.

"I-I'm so sorry (Y/N). If I had known—"

You cut him of with a sarcastic laugh. "I called you Stefan. Forty times. So don't try that bull. If you had bothered to answer your phone my best friend would be here right now and I wouldn't have to explain to her parents why their daughter won't be coming home to dinner. Won't graduate high school. Won't get married, have kids, have a future. Wanna know what I'm gonna tell them?"

Stefan looks up from his place on the ground his wrist still pressed to Gem's lips. His blood dripping down her chin and spilling on to Gem's favorite shirt she was wearing.

"I'm sorry. It was the brother of my boyfriend because I pissed him off. I then did everything in my power to save her but I couldn't because my boyfriend didn't feel the need to answer his phone." You spit out anger seething through your veins.

Stefan stands up suddenly. "Damon did this!?"

"Why do you care?" You ask angrily.

"(Y/N), I care about you." He whispers softly.

"Not enough to answer the phone. And look who's paying the price for that." You reply angrily.

"I'm sorry," he says stepping closer to you making you back up.

"I-I can't do this. Every time I look at you I see Damon killing the one person in the world who has been there for me since my awkward phases and the man I love."

Stefan's lips wobbles as he processes what your hinting at. "(Y/N)...Don't."

You wipe tears away feeling the cold blood on your fingers stain your skin. "Please don't make this harder then it needs to be Stef."

He walks closer to you again making you back up quickly. "(Y/N)," he whispers pain in his eyes.

"I blame you Stefan Salvatore for this," you motion to your best friend. "Give me time. And until then." You start to cry again. "We are done."
