We're always talking about how the Doctor has been getting progressively younger and Peter Capaldi broke that pattern. And then the War Doctor has his line about to "Being a grown up". It is a metaphor of the Doctor moving on and forgiving himself.
A/N: I particularly love this Head Canon this one had been close to my heart unlike the other HCs I was typing earlier. And it was really a metaphor after all the doctors saved Gallifrey. After 10 & 11 removed the guilt inside them.
