Sally made the drive back toward Tony who was 15 as she was 17. The reason she was heading down toward him was because of the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark.
She was driving to the private airport to meet with a silent Tony and Rhodey. She got there few minutes and grabbed her bag and went to where Rhodey was with Tony.
As she neared she could tell just how much Rhodey felt awkward because he didn't know what to do. Sally told the man to get the plane ready they would be ready in a few minutes and she made her way toward Tony who was sitting there looking at the ground with a confused expression.
She nodded toward Rhodey who mouthed, "Thanks." and went onto the plane as Sally sat next to him.
She put a hand on his shoulder but sat there waiting for him to speak, "I don't know what I feel." Tony said after a while.
"Are you sad?" Sally asked gently knowing the relationship he had with his parents were a weird one.
"I don't really know." Tony said quietly, "Like, I know their dead and I feel that but I just don't....feel it."
Sally sat there for a bit, "I was young when my parents died. I didn't know what was happening and I didn't know that I wasn't going to see them again. I wasn't very close to my mom as I might've liked and my step-father did the best he could but had no clue how to raise a child.
I think, what you feel is love but at the same time confusion. Like you didn't know you really loved them that much that their deaths affect you."
"I don't know how to act when we get there." Tony said quietly.
"Act like yourself." Sally said and pushed his shoulder a bit, "We should probably head down there. Jarvis is waiting for us."
Tony nodded and got up grabbing his bags as they boarded the plane. Tony sat in his own seat tinkering with a few things as Sally sat next to Rhodey.
"Is he ok?" Rhodey whispered to her.
"He will be." Sally said back knowing that it was true, "Just give him some space but let him know that you're there if he needs you."
"Sorry about your parents." Rhodey whispered.
Sally gave him a look, "Were you eavesdropping." She asked with amusement and as Rhodey sputtered giggled a bit and pushed his shoulder with her own, "It's fine really. It was a long time ago."
"Still sorry." Rhodey said with a red face.
Sally laughed and kissed his cheek and loved how his face turned even more red. She moved from that seat to sit with Tony and help him figure out a machine for the science fair promising to not help him but to just watch what he was doing.
They mostly sat in silence until they touched down back onto solid ground where Jarvis and Obadiah Stane were waiting.
"I trust the flight went well sir?" Jarvis asked
"The flight was fine Jarvis." Tony said getting off the plane with some black shades on.
As Sally got down she noticed Obadiah glare a bit at her and she glared right back. She never liked Obadiah and doesn't trust him with the company but it seemed that Tony was blind to it and actually trusted the man.
Together they all got into a limo and went toward Stark Mansion to change outfits for the funeral that was later today.
The one where there was going to be a lot of press and questions.
During the limo ride Stane was telling what to say to certain questions and Sally snapped, "I think he gets it why don't you just shut up. His parents are dead and here you are not even caring only thinking about the press. How low li-"
"That's enough Sally." Jarvis interrupted Sally even though he entirely felt the same about what she was saying.
Stane just huffed, "I do care about the fact his parents are dead. I'm making sure that he doesn't do anything stupid while he's there and he would look good for the press." Stane snapped
"It's a fucking funeral." Tony answered also annoyed with Stane treating him like he doesn't know this, "It isn't about press. It's about the fact my parents are dead."
Stane was stuttering obviously not expecting Tony to intervene in the conversation, "Let's just ride in silence." Rhodey stated
Everyone seemed to agree to that because the limo ride was silent on the way to Stark Mansion and even to the funeral.
Rhodey and Sally got out a flew blocks away from the cemetery because Stane thinks it wouldn't look good for the papers if Tony came with his friends.
As they watched the car ride to the funeral Sally said to Rhodey, "I hate that man. I hope he dies."
"That's a bit harsh." Rhodey said without any harsh words. The guy was a dick after all.
Sally huffed, "Come on, let's give Tony comfort for afar until the funeral is down. Then before Stane can steal him have Jarvis drive us to a small pizza place that a friend of mine owns who owes me a favor and doesn't care if he's Tony Stark." Sally said
"Sounds good." Rhodey agreed and just as planned after the funeral they dragged Tony away before Stane could get to him and have Jarvis drive to the small place.
Hailey the owner and friend of Sally kicked the people out early so the place was empty, "There pizza is good." Rhodey commented as he shoved a piece in his mouth.
Tony nodded as Sally grinned. Jarvis was the only one that wasn't stuffing his face but even they could tell he approved of the pizza.
"Please use the napkins provided." Jarvis in his good-manner mood said to the teens.
All the teens huffed in sync and dramatically used the napkin. Jarvis just rolled his eyes.
Overall, the death of Maria and Howard Stark was spent eating some pizza and discussing other plans to get their minds off the tragic death and to get Tony away from thinking about it.
