I Took Far too Long to Tell You This

After Val'dorn fell to the ground landing in a puddle of his own blood Dappert sheathed his swords and bent down beside Vanessa.

Vanessa felt warm hands around her midsection and she winced in pain as she felt the searing pain.

Dappert channeled a spell light illuminating his hands her wounds closed and her armor was restored
"I would have told you who I was before but I was scared you wouldn't believe me..."

Vanessa laughed a bit
"Not like it matters anymore...let's just get out of here...I'm sure Val'dorn's followers will come soon."

Dappert nodded taking her hand and leading her down a path.

Many minutes of silence followed their journey down the path until Vanessa spoke up sadly
"Dappert..."
He looked over at her
"Hmm?"
She kept her gaze away from him
"I suppose I have to go home now...and go on with life on my own again..."
Dappert stopped dead in his tracks forcing her to look at him
he saw the tears stream down her face.

Dappert put his hand on her waist and pulled her into him
"I have waited far to long to tell you this Vanessa..."
he brushed back a strand of hair from her face
"Vanessa, I am still the same man you met in the inn that day two weeks ago..."
Vanessa looked into his wondrous blue eyes in shock

"Vanessa, I love you. I don't say that just because you returned me to the light but it is because I legitimately love you."

Vanessa's eyes widened
"B-but...I'm only just a pawn of the light...and you are-"

He put his hand on the back of her neck
"Don't even use that excuse the fact you could wield my swords showed me you are nothing like a pawn."

Before she could protest anymore he kissed her passionately
she stood there in disbelief before kissing him back.

Dappert traced a heart with his thumb gently over her armor but still hard enough for her to feel it.
Vanessa made a shocked little squeak into his mouth pulling away her head
"Dappert! You are such a tease!"

He laughed deeply at her frustration
"I must say that little sound you made was quite adorable."

Vanessa huffed before giggling quietly
Dappert quirked a brow at her but was taken by surprise
as she gently bit the skin on the side of his neck under his jaw.

He grunted quietly as she did so, after she pulled back he chuckled.
"Now we are even?"

She laughed
"Mhm."
