Kaneki's pov

"Let's go home"

That was the last words that came out of his mouth... Home. Where's home?

There isn't home anymore. Not after what happened.

~flashback~
'W-where am I? Am I dead?' I thought to myself, 'hang on... Is this... Anteiku? But I thought I collapsed outside in the snow... What's going on?!'

Just when I was thinking that, I heard a noise that sounded like mugs clinking together.

'There's someone or something else here. Oh maybe Manager's back already.'

But the thing that happened next left me speechless

H-Hide?!

Hide walked out of the shadows with a tray of... Coffee? and smiled like he always used to.
"Yo, Kaneki" He grinned.

"W-why? what are you doing here Hide?" I can't think of anything to say

"Well I brought you back here obviously! Pfft silly!" He kept chuckling.

~Time skip~

He kept asking me questions and talking to me like when I was back... human. Before all -waves hands around- this happened.

Hide seemed different though. He was getting all sluggish and he couldn't concentrate properly

'Wait. What's that dripping noise? I can smell blood. Who's blood though? Mine? The people I killed or... Hide? No it can't be Hide! Or?'

I looked over at him and he started wobbling.
The next thing I knew, he was falling into my arms and my eyes widened in shock.

"Hide? Hide?! What's wrong! Tell me!" I kept screaming his name but it took him a while to actually reply.

"K-kaneki... I'm cough sorry" his breathing was getting shorter and quicker and his heart beat was dropping, "I don't think I'll make it." He kept coughing up blood which was the worst thing to see.
Your childhood friend dying in your arms. Dying.
He can't die yet!

"Hide! don't give up okay? When all of this is over we can leave this place. Leave everyone, and start all over again you hear me? Please don't leave me like this. Don't leave me all alone"

Tears -that I thought would never stop- were pouring down my cheeks and I couldn't form words properly.

"Kaneki, please. It's too late. I've lost too much blood, I've not got long left" he coughed more blood up "please don't make me suffer like this."

I was crying even more. If he's gone, there's no point in me living anymore. I've already lost everything else.

I don't want to loose my most special person. My only childhood friend.

His breathing was gradually getting worse "I'm sorry, Kaneki." a single tear ran down his cheek.

"N-no don't die! Please?!" I screamed, holding him tighter to my chest

"Let's go home" he whispered, his body going limp in my arms. Those were his last words.

"Please. Please d-don't leave me like this" I whimpered, closing my eyes.

That's when I lost consciousness (again)

'Home? I don't even know the meaning of home anymore. There's no such thing as home. Well... not for me that is. Not now that Hide is gone.'

~flashback end~

It's been more than an hour since that happened and I'm still sat here holding the lifeless body of my childhood friend -who's more like my brother than my friend- in my arms.

What now? I feel so lost...
lost forever.

Well this is my second fanfic. My first one was an Attack on Titan fanfic but the first chapter didn't go so well so I decided not to publish it and deleted it instead
