Mary's parents just left for a date night and left Mary home alone. She didn't mind though, in fact, she wanted to be alone to show her parents how responsible she was. Though there was a snow storm on the way, Mary wasn't scared. She knew she could do it.

After locking the windows and doors, she put on one of her favorite movies, popped some microwave popcorn, and curled up on the couch in a warm blanket.  Mary almost dozed off when she saw something move out of the corner of her eye.

She immediately became alert and focused her attention towards the movement.

She found herself looking out the window, specifically the silhouette of a tall man holding a knife standing outside of the window.

Paralyzed with fear, all Mary could do was scream. Eventually, she came to her senses and reached for the phone on the coffee table next to her and dialed 911. When she looked back up, the man was gone

The police showed up only minutes after the call and found poor Mary curled up in a ball on her couch. When she saw the police, she told them her story.

The police searched the area. They checked the window for fingerprints and looked outside for fresh prints in the snow, but found no evidence. One of the policeman noticed that Mary was watching a scary movie and came to the conclusion that it was her imagination pulling a mean trick on her.

They were about to leave when one of the other policemen tripped over something by the couch. It was a knife, wet from melted snow. The image that Mary saw in the window wasn't a silhouette, but a reflection.
