My Amazing Birthday Present!!!

Today is my 31st birthday and Gideon and I have been married for a month now. When I woke up that morning, I could smell pancakes and bacon. I could hear Gideon coming down the hallway so I acted like I was asleep.

"Jack?" Gideon asked with a soft toned voice, "Jack, wake up."

I opened my eyes and saw Gideon with a plate filled with food. He leaned down and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Happy birthday!!!" he said.

"Thanks," he gave me the plate and sat down next to me.

"I have something for you..." he said giving me folded up papers.

I unfolded them and read the first two words and literally almost screamed!

"Are you serious?!?!" I asked excitedly.

"Yes." he said while smiling.

"We're getting kids?!?!"

"Yes, calm down, jeez."

I ate my food quickly and hopped into the shower. When I got out, Gideon was putting on his shoes. I grabbed my keys and ran out of the house.

"Give me the keys, you're not driving." he said smiling.

"No, I want to drive!" I said.

"No, give me them!" he said taking the keys out of my hands.

"Can I please drive?" I asked using my puppy eyes.

"No, those eyes don't work with me." he said while getting in the car.

"Dammit..." I said under my breath.

The car ride was very long. It felt like hours. When we finally got to the orphanage, a woman was waiting for us.

"Hello, aren't you Gideon?" she asked.

"Yes, I'm the one that called."

I went and sat down because Gideon had to fill out paperwork which took 20 minutes.

"Ok, let's go." the woman said.

I followed Gideon into another room with kids running around and playing.

"Choose your child and meet me at the front desk." the woman said as she walked out.

I walked around and immediately saw a little boy, who looked like he was two years old, playing with Minecraft Legos.

"Hello there." I said.

He looked up at me and his eyes lit up. The boy has the most blond hair I had ever seen, his eyes were a very bright blue with little specs of grey in them.

"Hi!" he said.

"What's your name?"

"I Mason."

"Hey Jack... Oh, who is this?" Gideon asked walking over to us.

"I Mason." he said while pointing to his chest.

"Hey, would like to come home with us?" I asked Mason.

"Yeah!!!" he said.

I stood up and Mason held out his arms so I could pick him up. We went back to the front desk and Gideon filled out more paperwork. When we had all of Mason's stuff, we headed out to the car. When we got home, Mason had passed out on the couch.

"Woah, what happened to him?" Gideon asked while laughing.

"We were playing Just Dance, then he got tired and just passed out." I said while laughing.

I picked up Mason, and put him to bed. Gideon and I started getting ready to go to bed. I was so happy! I was never expecting to get a kid for my birthday! This was the best birthday I have ever had!!!
