Jack's POV

"HEY MA!!! MA!! WHAT ARE YOU DONE IN THERE?! S'takin' forever."

Jack waited impatiently at the bathroom door for his mother to be finished. He was by no means happy about moving away from Ireland and all his friends and family, but he didn't want them to miss their flight just because his mother needed to "Powder her nose"... whatever that meant.

"HOLD YER HORSES JACK I'LL ONLY BE A SECOND!!"

Though nobody ever believed him when he told them, Jack actually got his freakishly loud voice from his mother. She was seldom loud around company, and was always polite unless her parenting skills were put into question. Then she got angry. She could destroy buildings in one fell swoop when she was agitated. Lucky for Jack, he was a total momma's boy, so she was never mad at him. It helped with him being the youngest and the only one out of their five children who hadn't run off to college or to start a family.

"Ready dear?" His mother asked enthusiastically, finally done with her agonizingly long time in the restroom of their now emptied home.

"I guess so" he mumbled begrudgingly, thinking about all the memories they would be leaving behind. His mother rubbed his back gently, knowing almost exactly what her son was thinking, almost as if she could read his mind.

"Now I know you're gonna miss the old place, I sure will too, but ye'll have plenty of new opportunities in America. The school's in a nice area and there's gonna be lots more kids yer age to make friends with! And plus, yer new room'll be really big, so you can finally have that huge computer thing ye wanted~"

It's true. Jack really was excited about getting a better PC. He wanted to be able to download more games and have them run at fantastic speeds, like they never could with their shitty internet in Ireland. But he was terrified of having to start over, and more kids would likely mean more bullies.

"Ma, what if nobody likes me? What if I'm bullied even more 'cuz I'm different?"

Jack's mother hugged him and said "How could anybody not love that cute little face of yours?" She then began to shower the boy in gentle kisses, as he struggled out of her grip.

"Ye'll be fine Jacky. I'm sure ye'll have lots of friends in no time, and who knows? Maybe ye'll find yerself a girlfriend~"

"Maaaa.. you're embarrassing me and we're not even on the plane yet!" Jack stood up off of the countertop he'd been sitting on for his 'affectionate' talk with his mother and grabbed his bags.

The family headed for the airport, prepared to settle in their new home, unaware of just what the future held in store for them...
