Mark's POV
'God he's so cute!' Mark thought as music class neared its end. 'He's funny and kind and sweet and sooo sexy!' This had to be the tenth time Mark had lost himself thinking about Jack in the past half hour. 'Why was I so blessed to have found a cute little leprechaun like him?' went his final thoughts before the bell rang.
Jack's POV
'Shite, he's staring at me again! I hope I didn't freak him out earlier...' Jack thought, recalling the taunting words he and Mark had received from the boy he now knew to be Mitch Grassi. 'Maybe he liked it? No... that's crazy! He couldn't like me.' He then remembered his conversation with Bob, Wade, and Yami in the cafeteria. 'Could he?'
When the bell rang, Jack was surprised to feel a muscular boy grab his hand and whisk him away to their next class. When they had gotten to Mr. Olusola's Chinese class, neither one of them realized- or minded- that their hands were still intertwined with each other's.
"So you did make a move." said the familiar British voice when the boys entered the room.
"That's the second time I saw you two walking hand-in-hand today! I'm beginning to think that this is more than just a friendly venture~" Mitch mocked as the two affectionate boys turned red and prepared for class.
"Congrats you guys! I'm proud of you." Yami said cheerily. Mark looked at Jack, fear and unease evident in his big brown eyes. Jack just smiled and nodded, trying to encourage Mark to keep the promise he had made earlier. Mark smiled gently in return, not realizing just how long he and the Irish boy had spent looking into each other's eyes... again.
"Oh, would you just fuck already!" Mitch said impatiently, watching the two get extremely flustered and embarrassed by the statement.
Mark sat next to Yami and Jack for the rest of the class, feeling relieved to regain his friendship with the boy he used to love while finding a new boy who took his heart in a matter of hours.
Jack didn't know the first thing about Chinese language or culture, but he wasn't going to argue with the school over having more time with Mark! If anything he'd love to sign up for more classes after school just so he could be around the half German as much as humanly possible. Talking with Mark was better than eating cake and cookies and playing video games combined, and those were Jack's favorite pass times. His smile was gorgeous and his laugh was infectious and it didn't help that Jack had a 'thing' for people who spoke other languages well and low and behold, Mark was the best student in their entire Chinese class! The way he spoke the foreign words felt like he was begging for Jack to...
Jack was pulled out of these thoughts once again by the ring of the bell, signaling for the students to flee to their next and final classes of the day.
The two boys didn't hold hands on the way to their next class as they had for the past few, but they were both mentally and physically close as they took their time in the halls. They entered Mrs. Kaplan's science class and immediately heard a very girly squeal come from the front of the room.
'Oh no, not again!' Mark thought, knowing how eager and overly dramatic his science teacher could be...
"You must be the new transfer! I see you're already situated with one of the most handsome boys in the school~" She claimed, trying far too hard to hide her excitement. "Wow, Mark you really out done yourself on this one! The first day for the boy and I can tell it's meant to be! Your name is Sean, right?"
Jack was strangely comforted by his science teacher's loud words and ecstatic attitude, so much so that he almost didn't read the implications her words had carried. Regardless, his face flushed crimson red again- it seemed to do that a lot today- and began to stutter his way through another flustered sentence. "Y-yeah I'm S-Seán, but everyone just calls me Jack. It's nice to meet you Mrs-" He was cut short by another girly squeal from the blonde woman before him.
"Nice to meet you Jack, but please, call me Jasmine! I love my husband's last name, but it feels too impersonal, so have at it!" She beamed a bright smile and Jack suddenly felt extremely safe. "Now please, sit wherever you want- probably by Mark- so I can start class." She giggled at that and Jack took his seat by the cutie with the glasses he'd come to know far too well.
"Class, today we will be starting our big project on the sciences of the universe; y'know, the one that'll be worth about a fifth of your grade." At this many of the students groaned boredly, not wanting to start the project. Mark, however, was now visibly nervous.
'Why's he so nervous? It's just a project. And Mark's really smart so it should be a piece of cake! Something's wrong here...' Jack pondered this before the answers fell into his lap, literally.
Their teacher handed out packets of paper that said in big letters "Partnered Project 1", and began to list the partners she had picked for everyone, seeing as she knew who would 'work best together' outside of school.
"The partners will be: Steven and Connie, Ian and Anthony, Ruby and Sapphire, Felix and Marzia, Ken and Mary, Jimmy and Rachel, Amethyst and Peridot, Dan and Phil, Aaron and Jess, Ryan and Cheyenne, Tyler and Troye, Natasha and Bruce, Michelle and Krism, and finally Mark will be with our new student Jack. Now run along younglings! Be free! Work on your projects for today, but we won't have more time in class, so you better make plans for some time outside of school!"
As she finished her list, the kids began to pair off, all very happy with who they were paired with. Jack could feel his face heat up more as he imagined spending time with Mark outside of school. Mark noticed the Irish boy's bright red cheeks and felt his own cheeks begin to burn as well.
He decided to try to break the tension. "So, you wanna go to your house or mine?" This just made both of the boys more flustered thinking their very unclean thoughts.
"We can go to my house, my parents work pretty late, so it'll be mostly empty..." Jack wanted to facepalm after he said this, but it was too late to take it back.
"Sure that sounds great! I-I mean if it's not too much trouble and all.." Mark began scratching his neck nervously trying not to seem too excited. 'But you are excited! You want to get into his-' Mark stopped his own thoughts from going further by focusing on Jack's next words.
"N-no it's no trouble at all! We can even walk there together- if that's okay with you."
"Great! Can't wait~" The seductive way Mark said that last part made Jack feel like his bones were made of Jell-O. He sure was thankful for the cover of the lab table they sat at for hiding his... feelings.
