Mark's POV
"Okay class, don't forget to work on those pair projects over the weekend! You only have until next Friday before we present!" Mrs. Kaplan yelled over the sound of the bell ringing and the large group of teenagers socializing and fleeing, eager to go home for the weekend.
"So you ready to go?" Jack asked Mark as the taller boy put away his belongings excitedly.
"Uh, sure but.." It was obvious he was now extremely nervous for no apparent reason 'Please say yes please say yes-' was all he could think as the word spilled out of his mouth frantically. "Since we're now a.. thing, do you wanna go on a date tonight?"
Jack's face lit up as his smile went wide and he gently jumped to hug the boy "Of course I would Markimoo! What were ye thinking, movies?"
"Oh, uh yeah! I thought we could go see that new horror movie that just came out, see if it was any good." The strong sense of relief from finally asking the question, though it seemed like a silly thing to get worked up about, filled the half-German boy to the brim with happiness.
"G-greeaat, s-sounds good."
Mark recognized the smaller boy's fear instantly and was at first very alarmed by it. "What's wrong?" It took a moment for the idea to dawn on him. "Are you scared~?" Mark taunted, earning a defensive response.
"N-no I'm not! I'm a man, and I don't get scared! I just..." His flushed face wasn't enough embarrassment to satisfy Mark's need to tease the smaller boy, so teasing him more is exactly what he did.
"You are scared! That's adorable! Are you afraid of the wittle monsters on the big TV Jackaboy~?" Mark was laughing uncontrollably at the next statement:
"N-no I'm not! I-I don't g-get scared!" His stuttering just made him feel even more embarrassed and made Mark laugh even harder. He began looking at the floor in shame, almost in tears from his lack of confidence.
When Mark stopped laughing and noticed his lover's pain, he was quick to comfort the Irish boy, silently scolding himself in his mind. "I'm sorry Jackaroony, don't be sad~!" He hugged the smaller boy from behind and nuzzled into his neck, melting around him in an attempt at an apology.
Jack just continued to look at the floor, his arms crossed in front of him. He felt an urge to prove that he was strong enough to resist Mark's charm and affection.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you from the monsters." Was whispered into Jack's neck, and he realized he couldn't resist any longer. He turned around and hugged his arms around Mark's neck, extremely comforted by the sentiment that had won him over.
"I know ye will Marky~" His response was much appreciated by the taller boy, and they both just sat there in each other's arms for another minute before a familiar girly squeal was heard from the other side of the classroom.
"Oh my god you guys are sooo cute! I just- Ugh! I can't. It's too cute! I can't." Their science teacher fangirled almost incoherently, causing Jack to turn bright red as Mark just rolled his eyes.
The two boys both went back to their own homes, walking together most of the way seeing as they lived close to each other, so they could get ready and inform their parents about their whereabouts. Mark told his brother Thomas and left to pick Jack up for their date.
"You better not get too attached and then get your heart broken like last time!" Thomas yelled as he watched his little brother leave. Of all the people who were affected by Mark's depression, Thomas was hurt the most by it. He and his brother were always close and could depend on each other, so Mark's sudden distance and despair was heartbreaking.
"I'll be fine, trust me! And I promise you'll meet him soon. Love you, bro!" Mark yelled as he started running towards Jack's house, waving at his worried over-protective brother as he did so. Thomas just waved back, happy to see his brother's genuine smile again.
Jack's mother answered the door and was clearly happy to see the boy again. "Mark! Come on in, Jack'll be down in a sec'."
"Thanks, Mrs. Mc- um, I'm sorry, mom." It was so strange to be so informal with a parent, most of Mark's other significant others' parents hated him, probably because he had never actually cared about most of them.
Once the green haired drummer boy was finished learning what his mother meant by 'powder your nose', the two set off towards the local cinema, Jack once again taking Mark's arm captive as his personal snuggling toy.
The happy couple took their seats towards the center of the theater to ensure that they had a great view. Jack was visibly nervous. He had never been too good at handling horror movies. Horror games had been helpful towards this, but movies were entirely different. He had no control, no power over what happened. This would always make him fear the unknown even more than necessary.
Mark was worried for the smaller boy when the lights went down and Jack began shaking gently. "I'm here for you Jacky. We can leave if you want."
The thought of leaving now was embarrassing, to say the least! Jack wasn't willing to have his manhood smashed like that. "I'm fine Mark, I'm brave."
'D'aww, he's like a little puppy! Trying so hard to be brave.' Mark thought as he decided to let the leprechaun pretend to be strong.
"Okay, but if it gets too scary just tell me and we'll leave." Jack loved just how kind and considerate his date was and just nodded, unsure of how to react with such kindness.
The movie began the same way most terrible horror movies begin; painfully slow and boring.
Mark was too bored by the movie to even imagine paying attention to it, so instead, he decided to think about Jack. And he kept thinking and thinking about him until his little 'problem' from yesterday had come back, this time with a determined vengeance.
'Maybe if I just' Mark developed his evil plan there and started with a gentle hand on his lover's thigh, closer to his knee as to not cause suspicion. Then he slowly made his way up and down, coming very close to the personal boundary that was socially unaccepted, then going back to its original position.
Jack's POV
'Oh god, what is he- Hnng that felt good oh no' Jack panicked slightly as a wave of pleasure coursed through him, indicating that he was sharing Mark's little 'problem'. 'Dammit! Why here? He's gotta be such a tease!' Jack thought as he paid more attention to Mark than the movie.
In hindsight, this was a bad decision on Jack's part, seeing as it prevented him from noticing the hints the movie provided for its first big scare. The small Irish boy practically jumped out of his seat as he covered his face and tucked in his legs, shivering in horror.
Mark was quick to throw his arm around the scared teenage boy and slowly comfort him through kind whispers of "It's okay" and "I'll protect you"
Before he knew it, Jack was laying his head on Mark's chest, hiding his face in the stronger boy's masculine cologne for relief every time he was scared.
Jack couldn't have left that theater sooner if he tried, practically flying out of there with Mark's hand in his own. The two sat outside for a moment while he caught his breath, still scared of the movie.
"I'm sorry Jack, I should have just picked a different movie." Mark was extremely worried that his first date with his new sweetheart hadn't gone well enough to warrant another.
Jack just hugged him tight, squeezing much harder than he meant to, Mark not minding in the least.
"Hey, Mark?" Jack mumbled into the taller boy's red flannel shirt, loving how strong and rustic it made him look.
"What's up buttercup?"
"Can you spend the night at my house?"
