Ain't nerves a bitch? I was nervous as hell, you'd think I was meeting the president. Well...
Backstage was just as hectic as the crowd was with people running around barking orders and people running around doing them. I was led to a door that had Beyonce's name marked on it, the room was heavily guarded. Two beefy men stood at either side of the door with stoic expressions. After being told to wait here, the lady that led me to the room knocked, and went in alone reappering two seconds later. I wish I was allowed to bring Maya. This might have been a little easier.
"You may go in now," I heard. I took a couple deep breaths, opened the door and entered.
She sat facing a vanity mirror that was unnecessrily bright and inspected her nostrils. It was a pretty funny sight and it made her appear almost normal. She turned toward me and flashed a million watt smile.
"Hello Miss Nina, it's nice to meet you." she said. I stood awrkwardly by the door, with a sense of disbelief.
"It's n-nice to meet you too, um mam." What the hell was wrong with me, I mentally face-palmed.
"Nina please, I'm only 34, I'd prefer if everybody stopped calling me Mam. You can call me B, it's cool."
If not f or the smile that remained on her face the whole time, I would have thought she was reprimanding me, but her playful demeanor actually managed to put me at ease.
"It'll also help if you think of me as a regular person. As a peer, if you will." She added
It was hard enough remembering to call her 'B' without trying to imagine her as a peer as well.
"Where's Blue, if you dont't mind me asking." I know the question seemed off topic but i was hoping to get a glimpse of the little cutie and I hadn't seen her all night I was even expecting an appearance when Beyonce sang "Blue" (The song).
"She's with her father, across from the stadium in the play park, they were suppose to come back already but she demanded ice-cream and more games. It's funny how he let's her get her way."
"Oh." I responded
"Nina, how old are you?" She asked.
"I'm 17. Why."
"This may sound strange but I was wondering about your life at home. How is it? Please, have a seat. I don't know why on earth you're still standing."
I took a seat on a sofa slightly bewildered, why was she asking about my life at home? That was a weird question.
"Well, it is what it is I guess. My mother works hard so we could get by, it isn't always the best fancy life, but it's what I have." I responded.
She nodded, smiled and looked at me in the weirdest way.
"This might seem strange..." She started, and I realized this was the second time she said that.
"How would it sound if I told you I wanted to adopt you?"
