Chapter 8

(Get ready for a big plot twist

It was an very chilly January day . But Emma didn't mind. It was the kinda day to just relax and watch movies .
Emma dressed in some old shorts and a green stripped shirt. Since it was her last day before school started up again she just had to relax .

For breakfast Emma got out the pancake mix and Sophie helped her pour it into pancakes.
" hopefully this turns out okay. Mmmm maybe we should cook it in a pan"
Emma said hopefully since she had never made breakfast before  .
Careful not to wake grandmother
Emma served pancakes to Sophie Clair and went to sit on the couch .

" oooo teen titans go is on "

" no don't turn on the tv ,let grandmother sleep " Emma whispered

After eating , Emma went to wash the dishes. But something wasn't right.
It's was nearly 11 and grandmother still wasn't up.
"Maybe she is got a cold "
Emma tiptoed downstairs to her room shared with Sophie .
Grabbing her laptop and the radio
Emma sat down on her bed .
Sophie Clair was picking out an outfit for her play date later today .
Emma checked the news and weather .
"38 degrees yikes "

" pink or green EM" Sophie was starring at two long sleeved shirts

" pink.  And what time is your uhhhh....playtime at"
" one "

Emma glanced at her watch and then ran into her closet pulling on fuzzy pj pants and a sweater .
"Hmm since grandmother isn't awake I'll take you to Maddison's house "

"Don't forget maya her twin "

Emma glanced at Sophie's bag of "stuff" including dolls ,books , MP3 player and some coloring books.

"Oh brother. Your bringing your whole bedroom to there house"

Once outside the girls ran up the street and down to the corner.
There was two small houses to the left .
One was pink and the other one looked deserted .
"Must be the pink house then"

After dropping Sophie Clair off
Emma ran back to the house .
"Brrrrrrrr"
It was 3 o'clock when Emma decided to go upstairs and check on grandmother.

"Grandmother.  .... Grandmother "
Emma pulled the covers off the bed.
Even sprayed grandmother with water but she would not wake up .

Emma called Madison's and Maya's house .

"Hello this is Emma. I need Sophie Clair ummm it's an emergency "

"Oh dear we will both be right over "
Said there mom

Emma also dialed 911 .
And ruthie and Lucy

Emma tried again to wake up grandmother but noting happened.
Now she was scared. If grandmother never woke up ,she wouldn't have anyone .

"Okay darling lets get her to the hospital.  "
In came Lucy and ruthie and Madison's mother and 911

" woah it's like a party in here"declared Sophie Clair

At the nearest hospital
Everyone was waiting patiently in the waiting room.
Actually not that patient .

"What is taking so long. If I was a doctor. I wouldn't be so slow" Emma cried out

" if it makes you feel better , you can always stay with me "- ruthie said patting Emma on the shoulder .

" we haven't lost grandmother yet " Lucy said

Everyone was called into the hospital room
"Looks like Mary - I mean your grandmother had a heart attack.  I'm sorry kids but we were to late"

"Your lieing. Grandmother the joke is over " Emma laughed

"Ummmm EM" Lucy said softly

Everyone went back into the waiting room .
"My mom says she can pick us up. Drop u at your house and gather some essentials till we figure out where your going " ruthie said on the phone with her mom

Back at the house. It was dark and quiet and Emma was still in shock.

Emma and Sophie grabbed some clothes, toothbrushes , pillows , the laptop ,Emma's cell , Sophie's doll and mp3 .

" look I'm sorry. I really am. 
Emma you will stay in my room. Sophie will bunk with my little sister Annie " ruthie Called out from the van .

Emma took one last look at what she was leaving behind
"Bye "
Sophie blew a kiss

"So welcome to my room.  Okay so my bed is a trundle.  Your probly wanna unwind and unpack.  We should also watch a movie. It's getting late" Ruthie suggested

Emma looked around at the room.
Pink walls , a blue trundle bed , a small TV , some posters, a desk .

Emma went into the bathroom and came out in a nightgown and slippers.

"What movie should we watch"Ruthie

Emma didn't respond and pretended like she couldn't hear.
Ruthie scrolled threw titles on Netflix .

"Yeah umm maybe we just need some sleep. It is 10 "

Emma  layed in bed
Pondering what had happened that day . Accomplishing making pancakes , watching tv , grandmother .
Emma shook that thought out of her head .
Okay maybe I'll think about a favorite memory. Like uhhh when it snowed. Yeah think of that Emma
Emma thought to herself

Ring ring ring ring ring ring

"Rise and shine.  It looks like a sunny day " Ruthie pulled the blinds  open .

" yeah and there is school today. But my mom says you don't have to go.  As for my self. Well I have no excuse " Ruthie said

Emma just starred at the ceiling .

" your sister wants to go to school and my mom is working so the house is all the yourself. Enjoy"

Ruthie pulled on red jeans and a long sleeved tshirt of her favorite band .
Then she grabbed her bag and shut the door.

Emma walked into the bathroom .
"What do I have to work with today "
Emma brushed at her tangled mess and finally decided to just stick it in a pony tail .

Emma wandered around the house.
"My as well give myself a tour "

" not exactly home but it will work "
