Before you read this story, I just want you to know that the ranch that the main character works at is different. It's not just meant for horses and animals. There are lots of activities such as skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, dune buggeying, etc. I got this idea due to a vacation that I went on so if you're wondering why there are so many activities, that's why. Anyways, on to the story! Please enjoy and let me know what you think!

*Briella's POV*

I pulled up to the ranch, looking around. The night's darkness surrounded my car although I could still make out figures walking to and from the main lodge. Well, at least there is a night life here.

I parked the car and got out, zipping my coat up as the cold air hit me in the face. It's freezing here! It's never this cold at home!

I entered the main lodge and was engulfed by the heat from the fireplace. The woman at the front desk looked up and gave me a smile.

"Hello," I greeted.

"Hello, how can I help you?" she asked.

"I actually just arrived. I'm going to be working here for the rest of the winter," I told her.

"Oh, you must be Briella Novitski! Welcome to Saddle Up Ranch!" she exclaimed and then rifled through some papers. "Well, it looks like you're in cabin two, one of the worker's cabins. You can head right up there now."

"Don't I need a key?"

"We don't have keys here. This place has been around since the 1900's and not once have we had a problem with robbery. The people who come here are genuinely nice and well mannered."

"I guess I'll be heading off to the cabin then."

"Oh, and one more thing!" she called after me as I headed out.

I whirled around to face her. "Yes ma'am?"

"You will need to get some sleep tonight. You need to be up and ready by nine o'clock. Breakfast is served at eight thirty and after that, you should report to Jackson in the barn. He will explain everything you need to know."

"Thank you for the information. I won't let you down."

With that, I walked back out into the cold night and got back into my car. I drove around until I finally found the cabin. Grabbing my bags, I hauled them in the door. The first room I walked into was a small bedroom. There were two beds, one queen sized and the other a twin. There was a small closet along with a sink and mirror right outside of the door to the bathroom. I automatically started laying out my luggage on the queen sized bed. Yes, I'm going to take the bigger one! Who would pass up that chance?

I went into the bathroom and changed into my pajamas which consisted of a long baggy tee shirt paired with shorts. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and brushed my teeth. Then I retired to my bed where I fell asleep instantly.

The next morning, my alarm began beeping at seven o'clock. I trudged out of bed and grabbed a towel, heading into the bathroom. I screamed at the sight when I entered the room. Standing there was a male in a towel. As his head shot up, I immediately took in his pleasant appearance. His wet dirty blonde hair was plastered to his forehead and his hazel eyes were twinkling with amusement, a smirk pasted onto his lips.

"You are?" he questioned.

"Uh...I'm Briella," I said, turning around. "Sorry, I didn't know you were in here. I just wanted to shower before work."

"Nah, it's alright sweetheart. Don't worry about it," he reassured me. "I was actually just getting ready for work myself. Where do you work?"

"Um, why don't we talk about this when you're actually wearing clothes?"

"The bathroom is all yours," he replied, stepping into his side of the cabin.

I locked both doors quickly and heaved a sigh. That was embarrassing! What a great way to meet one of your coworkers for the first time, right? Gosh, couldn't the lady at the front desk have warned me I was rooming with someone?

I shook my head to myself and hopped into the shower, scrubbing away. Once I got out, I quickly wrapped myself in a towel, unlocked both doors and headed into my side of the cabin. I changed into my outfit which was long johns to keep myself warm, blue denim jeans, an old tee shirt, a red Saddle Up Ranch sweatshirt and a pair of tan overalls. On my head I wore a red and black hat and on my hands I wore thick black gloves.

"Knock, knock, is it safe to come in?" I heard the male's voice through the bathroom door.

"Yes, it's safe," I responded and he came sauntering in like nothing had happened just minutes before.

"Would you like to walk to breakfast with me?" he questioned.

"Sure, you can show me where I am going so I don't get lost."

"Don't worry, I'll show you the way," he smiled and grabbed my arm. "Let's go."
