"You're not like any other father," I encouraged him, and got back up. I loved having my best friend with me again, and I couldn't keep myself from kissing him. I leaned over his face and kissed him upside down. Then he started to laugh. He asked me if I remembered the time we had a challenge of not kissing each other if we didn't do it upside down, and I laughed too.
"Yeah, how silly was that?" I laughed. He then focused on the baby again. We sat in silence for a long while, before he spoke up.
"Have you thought of a name for her yet?" he asked, making me think about it again.
"No, I haven't decided at all," I giggled.
"Have you?" I then asked, wanting some suggestions.
"I just spent the time while you were upstairs to think about it," he admitted.
"But I find it really difficult. I don't even know what her last name will be," he complained.
"I love your last name, so to me she should be 'something' Hemmings," I said.
"Yeah, but yours is so beautiful for a girl. I'd love for my little girl to be named 'something', Rose," he admitted.
"Maybe she could have them both?" I suggested.
"'Something' Rose Hemmings" I said to hear what it would sound like.
"That was beautiful," he admitted and I couldn't agree more. We both thought about it for a while.
"Emily Rose Hemmings," I suggested, thinking of my previous favourite name.
"My aunt's name is Emily, I wouldn't want my daughter to remind me of her," Luke giggled. Our princess was now sleeping on his chest again.
"Oh shoot," I laughed. Then the silence crawled over us again, for a good fifteen minutes.
"April Rose Hemmings" he suddenly said. I smiled.
"April Rose Hemmings" I repeated.
"April Rose Hemmings, the daughter of Luke Hemmings and Andrea Rose" I said, trying to imagine what her name would sound like professionally.
"I love it," we suddenly said, at the exact same time. That made us burst out into an uncontrollable laughter, waking April up again.
"Oh no," Luke said, feeling sorry for her, but couldn't stop laughing.
"I was thinking about going home to mum and dad today. I haven't been able to see them yet," Luke said the next day when we ate breakfast.
"Oh, okay" I answered, slightly disappointed. I was kind of hoping he'd stay by my side forever.
"But I'd love to show April her grandparent's too," he continued.
"Do you mind coming with me back to my house?" he finished, looking hopefully at me.
"Of course I want to. I haven't spoken to them in so long myself." I smiled, changing my attitude in seconds.
We got ready, and left my house, mum driving us to Luke's place.
"Fuck" he suddenly said and bowed down in the front seat. He covered his head with his hoodie, and put his head as far down as possible.
"What is it?" I asked worried.
"Pap's" he said, quickly. "They can't see me like this" he added, making me realize it all. "Oh shit" I agreed. Of course Luke couldn't be seen with his ex girlfriend and her baby. That would only mean one thing.
"What do we do?" mum asked, almost panicking herself. We could see the paparazzi's lined up around Luke's house. He had clearly become more famous since the last time I saw him.
"Just drive past. I'll get out soon and walk back home," he told mum, and she did. She speeded up so they couldn't close up to us as we drove past, and in that way, they couldn't notice Luke either.
"We can't get past them Luke. How do we visit you if they are going to be there all day?" I asked him, sadly. I wanted April to meet his other grandma and grandpa.
He sighed. "I don't know. I guess we'll try to get them away, or we just can't do it," he told us, disappointing me a lot.
"Sorry" he added.
"Why don't you and I prepare a good meal, and we can invite Luke and his family over tonight, to meet the little one?" mum suggested, making me happy again.
"Could that work, Luke?" I asked him before I told mum yes.
"That could work perfectly," Luke said, and even though I didn't see his face, I knew he was smiling.
"Okay, so that's a deal then?" I continued happily.
"If you don't mind?" Luke asked, referring more to mum than me.
"With pleasure" she assured him, and we started planning everything. I was so excited, I could barely wait.
We stopped where Luke wanted us to stop, not far from his house, and he said: "Thanks for the ride, and I'm sorry things turned out this way. Can't wait for tonight, though. Love you" he said just before he stepped out of the car and shut the door behind him. He put his sunglasses on, and walked fast up the street.
"Leave mum," I told her. We couldn't risk anyone's suspiciousness if we stood still too long.
"So you're back together, yeah?" mum then asked, looking at me through the mirror.
"Yeah" I smiled back. "Luckily."
Having a chef as a mother wasn't only great at times. She didn't let me do anyhing but set the table when we were having guests over. I liked it today, though. Then I had more time to get ready. I wanted to look good when we were reuniting families.
"Is there anything else I can do, mum?" I asked her. She had prepared everything a la carte, so she would serve the dinner when we were ready for it. She even made three dishes, pre, main and dessert.
"No thank you, we'll just have to wait for the guests now, so I'll go get changed" she smiled and kissed my head. I went over to the stove and smelled the food. Everything looked so good, and I was excited.
I had already told Luke they could just walk in, without knocking so that April didn't wake up, so when I heard small voices in the hallway, I walked over.
"Hey" I smiled and kissed Luke three times quickly, then one long, meaningful kiss to finish it off.
"Hi Liz" I then said, giving her a gentle hug. "Andy" I continued, giving him a likewise hug.
"Welcome. I'm glad you could make it without the paparazzi's hunting you" I giggled, grabbing Luke's hand for support.
"Yeah, they can be irritating at times," Liz agreed, and when they were done undressing, we walked into the living room, where mum was too. They all exchanged their hello's and hugs, so I snuck Luke and myself up the stairs to my room.
"Do you want to?" I asked him, looking over to the bed.
