Chapter Twenty-Seven

I grin as I see two tickets toGreecein his. I cock my head to the side, grinning, “where’s the ring?”

Adam rolls his eyes, “Well, I realized that you already had the engagement ring and the wedding band. So I was trying to figure out what to get you and honestly, that’s hard when you’re not a material girl.”

“so you got us tickets toGreece?”

He nods, “after the wedding you’re doing of course.”

“January?”

“We leave January second. And Katie will be staying with Finn and Dakota for the two weeks.”

“hmm, two weeks inGreecewith no kid. How could I say no to that?”

“yes?”

“of course you idiot!” we kept the kiss short since Katie was right there. “wait, so Rose does need dates for wedding?”

“how did you know about that?”

I smile innocently. “Your phone went off and I answered. She said to tell you to get back to her with dates.”

“well, it’s not her vineyard. It’s one in France that her cousin owns.”

I gasp dramatically, “oh no, how will I survive? A wedding inFrance?!”

Adam laughs and pulls me towards him so that I’m cuddled on his lap, “also, you’re not allowed to make our wedding cake.”

“but-” I start to argue, not wanting someone else to do a terrible job.

“nope.”

“what if I stand behind Dakota and make sure she makes it correctly.”

“no.”

“Stacey?”

He shakes his head and I frown. Who would I have make my wedding cake? “I found this small French bakery in a village near the vineyard. They’re willing to make anything you want.”

“hmm, I guess I can deal with a small French bakery.” I lean my head against his shoulder and smile. Life couldn’t be anymore perfect right now. And to think that just twenty minutes ago I was afraid of him leaving me.

“what are you thinking?” Adam whispers in my ear, his voice tickling my skin.

I turn my head a little to face him, “the whole afternoon I’d been worrying that you were going to leave me again. Just thought that was ironic is all.” I answer, “how was that anyways? I mean, like what did you have to think about?”

“I was trying to remember why I hadn’t sent the text. Oh, and then I was thinking about how I have yet to visitWashington.”

“state?” he nods, “you’ve never been to my home state?”

“nope.”

“well then, how about we call that our honeymoon.” I sit up a little to get a look at his face, which was quite confused at the moment. “Listen, it’ll be great. We start inOregonand work our way through there and intoWashington. We spend some time inWashingtonwith Katie and then drop her off at my brothers. Then you and I spend a couple days alone onOrcasIsland.” This honeymoon sounded really exciting in my head, but he obviously had no clue what I was talking about. “actually, make thatSan JuanIsland, they have better hotels.”

Adam brushes a few stray hairs behind my ear and kisses my smiling lips, “you look like a kid who’s asking to go toDisneyland, so I can’t exactly say no.”

“yes! This is gonna be so awesome. I haven’t been back in ages.”

“This wedding planning stuff is as hard as people make it out to be.” I laugh and detangle myself from the hold I had on him. “no, really. We already have a baker, a venue, and honeymoon. Now we just need the food, people, and date.”

“November 14th.” I say randomly.

“too soon, and cold.”

“February 29th.” I toss out another date. One that I actually thought would be a fun wedding day.

“you want to?”

“why not? it could be fun. It would make anniversaries a lot easier too.” I tell him. Really, it would. We only have to celebrate every four years.

“okay, so February 29th. What about color scheme?”

“how about you choose that Adam. I’m never one who likes taking over a whole wedding.”

“mhmm, I know you have this all planned out.”

I roll my eyes, “I’m in the wedding business, of course I have our wedding planned out. But I still want to know what you want.”

“fine. How about navy blue, silver, and white?”

“hmm, your mother has got you trained well.”

Adam looks up at me all serious now, “Liana, don’t talk about my mom when you’re straddling me.”

I glance down and notice that indeed, somewhere along the way I moved into a position that had me straddling his lap. “well, though this is lots of fun. Let’s go to bed. I think we’ve both had quite a day, plus I need to call my brother. I left him-”

He sits up suddenly, throwing me off his lap, “your brother! Shit, he’s gonna kill me.” Adam mutters as he digs through his pocket for his phone.

Before I can ask what he’s doing, Adam had dialed his number. “Hey Blake, I was wondering if it would be alright if I asked your sisters hand in marriage?”

I burst out laughing and he covers my mouth with his unused hand. “really? Well that’s great! Okay. Yeah, I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Bye!”

I raise my eyebrows, my mouth still being blocked by him. “your brother said yes.”

Shaking off his hand, I finally speak. “you’re supposed to do that before you ask me to marry you, to my father, not my brother, and when I’m not in the room!” I whisper shout at him since Katie was still sleeping on the sofa.

“well I forgot. Oh, and he told me to tell you that the kitchen is clean and you have nothing to worry about. And Jenny screamed congratulations from the background.”

An unwanted yawn escapes my lips, “hmm, how about we go to bed and figure the rest of the things out in the morning.”

“sounds good to me. I’m quite exhausted after so rudely being woken up.”

“oh shush, you’re the one who fell asleep in the first place.” We get up and walk toward my bedroom. Well, more like racing an untold race to see who could get there first. I won.

“waiting for you. I’ve always been waiting for you.”

I smile and curl up against him. Finally ready for a full nights sleep. At the same time though, I was a girl who loved having last word, “correction, you’ve been waiting seven years.”
