Once they got back to the house and got everything put in its proper place the guys went to the theater to set up the band equipment while the girls were in the kitchen grabbing drinks for everyone.
"Hey guys, I want to try this song Ava wrote the other day. I love it, but I want to hear it with a full band and get your opinion on it before we do it live at the club." Harry stated once everyone was seated.
"Which song is that?" Ava asks him slightly puzzled.
Harry leans forward, carefully so not to knock Ava off his lap, picked up the lyrics on the top of the pile in front of him and showed it to her. "I loved this one every since you played it on the piano for me the other day." Harry tells her. "I can't wait to see how it sounds with the band."
Ava looks down at the paper in his hand and smiles. When she wrote this song she had Harry's deep voice in mind the whole time. She couldn't wait to hear how it would sound. "I'm glad you liked this one, I wrote it just for you. I hope it sounds as good with the band backing you as I imagine it."
"Well let's do this then." Braden says as he stands to get behind his instrument. The rest followed as Harry gave them the sheet music to the song.
Harry picks up his guitar and then nods at the guys letting them know he's ready. Everyone else sat back and got comfortable waiting to see if Ava could compose a song as well as Harry. No one noticed Anne and Robin standing in the doorway watching and listening as well. Robin had already decided that Ava and Harry was going to make him millions, and if Ava could write as well as she could sing he was going to try and talk them into start recording an album earlier than they planned. He hoped he could. As Harry starts singing everyone listens closely to every word.
My lovers got humor
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disappoval
I should've worshipped her soonerIf the heavens ever did speak
She's the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
We were born sick, you heard them say itMy church offers no absolutes
She tells me worship in the bedroom
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with youI was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen, Amen, Amen(Chorus ×2)
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my lifeIf I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
To drain the whole sea
Get something shinySomething meaty for the main course
That's a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable
We've got a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work(Chorus×2)
No masters or kings when the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence
Than our gentle sinsIn the madness and soil of that sad earthy scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Oh, oh
Amen, Amen, Amen(Chorus×2)
Ava was holding her breath waiting to see what everyone thought of the song. It wasn't the first one she wrote, but it was the first to be heard by people other than her and her parents and well Harry. And to say she was scared spitless to see what this group of people thought would be an understatement. The way it sounded when Harry sang it was amazing, it fit his voice perfectly, but just because she loved didn't mean anyone else would.
