Furnin Donus comes from a family of middle class merchants. They run a few stores along the banks of the Drin river. Mostly just general food stores from the locals, some contracts with major food companies from the north lands, and the store at Duro village has a deal with the local blacksmith to supply tools to sell. Furnin grew up with bartering, deal making, manuscripts, and book keeping, as a part of his everyday life. It was to no surprise to his parents when he decided that he wanted to go to the scribe academy to study to be a scribe. Although his younger brother was not at all excited for him because his leaving to study meant that the youngest would take over the family affairs.

Younger brother luno despised his brother for leaving everything at home for him to take care of. Learning the trade and rules of the land. Although luno soon forgave Furnin when luno discovered that he rather enjoyed the social aspect of traveling to far away places to form new deals and contracts to better the family Business.

Furnin left home when he was 17 and given his background the academy had no problems letting him in. Although it was apparant to him that not everyone was given the same treatment. While he did not have to try too hard to get in, others had a very difficult time getting past the entrance exams. He made a friend her name was Suna Lorn she had struggled for 2 years entering the same class as Furnin only she was smart enough to start 2 years early and now is in the same year as Furnin and the same age.

They became good friends even though she came from a poor family of farmers from the eastern lands of Gurn. And he advanced quickly through the classes while she was on her 2nd year he was taking 4th year classes...and there are only 5 years of classes. He helped her as much as she let him...she had a do it herself attitude that Furnin admired and she would never admit just how much Furnin had helped her.

During Furnin's final year of classes he's approached by the lead professor at the academy and is told to head to meet the master scribe for an important task.

Furnin complies without question and enters the master scribes room across the street from the academy was where the actual council of scribes worked. The master scribes room was filled with scrolls, paperwork, and even the occasional caligraphy for the more sophisticated records. The master scribe was hunched over and seemed to be contemplating with frustration over an ancient looking scroll.
