After a while of riding on horseback Furnin motioned for them all to stop near a clearing beside a lake. They tied the horses to some trees and set up camp.
"we should rest the horses for a bit, I noticed Rocco's back left leg was slightly limping. I don't want the horses over doing it. " Furnin says to explain his reason for stopping so soon before dusk.
Dorfam says astonished, "you can tell something as small as a slight change in your horse's movements? "
Furnin nods and says, "yeah it's very subtle but still. If the horse is injured I would be very upset. Not just because of the time lost, but because this magnificent creature has carried me as a burden. And I am grateful to it. "
He pats Rocco on the rear end and smiles wide.
Fuea says, "You are so confusing, one moment you viciously kill a dire wolf then you have such care for your horse. "
Suna says, "I agree it is very conflicting. "
Furnin has a straight face and says, "the horse isn't going to try to kill me."
Fuea says thoughtfully, "true. "
Furnin says, "I actually love dire wolves but they are wild creatures who've been shown nothing but the darkness of human hatred bred from fear so there's no hope for domestication of them. At least it wouldn't be simple. It's really a shame Dire wolves truly are majestic creatures. " Furnin is in deep thought then switches gears and says, "I'm gonna bathe in the lake anyone up for it? "
Everyone shook heads and Suna watched as Furnin took off his armor and clothes down to his under garments. Furnin's body was riddled with scars. Some from gashes, some looked to be from punctures. Just so much scarring.
Suna and Dorfam as well as Fuea see the scars and after Furnin had walked to the lake and dove in they all exchanged quizzical looks.
"just what did that Durna put him through? " Dorfam says
Suna looks in the distance and says, "I'm not even sure, but there were some days he was unable to move without pain. I always asked him why he continued to go through all of it. " she smirks and says, " but that's just how he is. He is an all or nothing kind of guy. And he'd do whatever it takes to achieve his goal. "
Fuea says, "he's terrifying, but in a good way. " her hands trembling ever so slightly.
Suna says, "he's alright, he tries to put the world on his shoulders sometimes but he's only human. He just tries to be more even if sometimes he's more like a... "
Dorfam cuts in, "like a viscous blood thirsty Wolf."
Suna says, "yeah... "
After a few moments Furnin comes running out of the lake screaming.
Furnin proceeds to grab a burning stick from the campfire and turns around the others see the enormous leech on his back. Furnin reaches behind him with the fire and burns the leech as that is the only safe way to remove a leech.
Furnin then stomps on the leech crushing it. He then wipes his forehead and says, "My Lord, what terrible luck we have had and it's only been two days of traveling."
Suna says trying hard not to laugh, "well, that's what you get for diving into a random lake. "
Furnin shot a grin at Suna and says, "yeah, I guess you're right. "
Fuea asked him, "how did you know how to deal with the leech?"
Furnin says, "oh I have read all kinds of stuff from the library. I always finished quickly with my studies so I would pick up a random book or two every now and then. "
Suna looks away into the distance.
Fuea says, "I see... Is there anything you don't know. "
Furnin's expression turns sour and he says, "a few things. " his expression turns into a slight grin as he says, " most of them involve women. "
Dorfam who was drinking from his flask spewed out water at Furnin's last words.
Fuea looks downward and puts her finger to her upper lip then says, "oh. well then. "
Furnin then says, " I think you guys are misinterpreting what I said. "
Suna can't hide her forced attitude any longer she starts bursting out laughing.
Furnin just starts putting his clothes back on refusing to continue the conversation they've misunderstood.
After a few moments Dorfam says as he walked over and patted him on the back, "I understand man, women are mysterious creatures who are sometimes more dangerous and vicious than even Dire Wolves."
Fuea throws and hits Dorfam in the back of the head with a rock.
Dorfam exclaims as he turns and looks at fuea, "ouch, what was that for? "
Fuea says, "men are brutish beasts who can't think without consulting their loins. "
Fuea thinks about her words and says, "except Furnin, apparently he's the exception."
Suna is still laughing as the conversation continues.
Furnin just sighs and tells Dorfam and Fuea, "get a room you two. "
Fuea seems to blush and Dorfam doesn't say a word and just sits back down.
Suna stops laughing and says, "you knew your horse's name. What are the names for the other horses. "
Fuea says slightly wanting to change the subject, "yes what is my horse's name? "
Furnin says, "there's a funny story behind your horse's name fuea. His name is Haywig because when he eats hay he managed to get a bunch of it on top of his head hence the name Haywig. "
Fuea chuckles and says, "that is funny. "
Furnin continues, "Suna's horse is called Aristo for his elegance and silver like color. "
Suna, who is now standing by her horse, pats Aristo and says, "who's a good Aristo carrying me across the land, you are. "
Furnin says after eyeing Suna curiously, "Dorfam's horse is called Chipper. "
Dorfam smirks and says, "chipper huh, I like it. "
Furnin says, "I learned all about the horses before setting out with them. "
They decided to rest for a while. Suna says, "I'm going to practice shooting my bow." she chuckles nervously then says, "don't want a repeat of what happened this morning. "
