(Before the events of the book)
Dear Dally,
Before you chunk this in the middle of the road, could you maybe give this letter a chance? So, I know that your old man wasn't very good to you, okay? But you didn't have to choose this path. I'm sure you could become a better person. No, you do not have to get a better education whatsoever, but just become a nicer person. I know that may be hard for you, but Pony and Johnny could teach you. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this, but there is so much more for you than this: breaking laws and getting thrown in jail. Don't you want something better than that or are you just a rebel? Do what you will to this letter, but at the very least would you please think about what I wrote? You may totally disregard what I've said. It's your choice.
Sincerely,
Serethiel
