Chapter 8

Cody's POV

"Maddie I said this is your home and this is your family why don't you stay here with your family, I can explain to Rose and Anthony what happened but I know she will be proud of you for pursuing something that was meaningful to you." Maddie looked at me with big brown eyes about to protest to what I had said but I knew she understood. I walked into the stables to retrieve Storm from his stall. As I prepare to mount Storm I look back to see Maddie and her family standing outside wishing me well, I try to hold back tears as I run to give Maddie one last hug before leaving with Berit. As we ride down a path guided by the moonlight I thought about the decision I had made, what would the brotherhood say about my decision. I look up when I hear a third set of hoof beats. "Berit did you hear that?" "yes" she said "please stay close." I nod knowing that Berit has a better idea of what might be going on. We stop at a meadow to rest and listen if the third set of hoof beats were still there. They were, Berit gets off her horse to take a closer look. "Cody please stay here." she whispered. I nod in response hoping it was nothing. I hear a rustle of bushes , waiting a while I finally shout "Berit ,BERIT" I finally shout. "It seem that we found the young assassin that escaped us last time." A man comes out of the brush with guns and sheathed sword. My eyes widen in fear this was the infamous templar my father told my brothers and I about. "Well young one you will be coming with us now." "NO!"

Rose pov:

They should be here by now! Foreword place spin foreword. I pace until people ask me every two minutes if I am alright. I wave the people off with a small smile. "I honestly am fine sir, I am just impatient" I say to the innkeeper has asked me repeatedly. "Your Highness are you sure? I can fetch a cloak for you? Or send a messenger to someone?" I smirk "Perhaps a room?" I ask. He sighs, finally at ease "Yes, ma'am" After I am settled into my room a loud banging on the door occurs. "ROSE!!!!! ROSE!" I open the door to find "Dimitri? What are you doing here?" He breathes sharply and deeply "After you left Adrian lost his mind looking for you. Well he got hurt." My eyes go wide with worry. "What is he ok!? Are you sure he is hurt?" I hear a laugh come from around the corner, "Adrian! Are you okay!" "YES, Rose I'm fine now. he pulls up the side of his shirt and shows me a large scar going from his hip to his bottom rib and wrapped around to his back. "How did you get that!" his eyes go dark. "Apparently Our sisters didn't like Raffele. He works for the templar. Cody flipped and cut me trying to get away." I gasp and push past him "Are Cody and Madi here? Where are they?"
