"C'mon elevator." I mummbled to myself as I waited in front of the elevator with all of my stuff on the luggage cart.

Thank god for that. It would truly suck if I had to carry all of my stuff upstairs. All alone.

The elevator door finally opens and I walked in, dragging my luggage cart in with me.

"Wait wait wait!" I heard a rushed voice.

A girl with long blonde hair runs inside the elevator and sighs in relief, "Oh god, I thought I was gonna miss it!"

She looks at me and smiles, "Oh hey! New here?"

"Yeah." I said, smiling back.

"That's cool." she says, "What grade are you in?"

"12th. I'm a senior." I said.

"Nice, me too! I'm Avery by the way." she says.

"I'm Shaylee or just Shay for short." I said.

"I like that name. Shay. Like Shailene Woodley from The Secret Life Of The American Teenager." she says.

"Oh yeah." I said, realizing what she's talking about.

"Heading to your room?" she asks.

"Yup. I'm excited but nervous to meet my roommate." I replied.

"I'm sure she's cool." she says, "And you know what's funny? My guidance counselor just told me that I'm going to have a new roommate! My former roommate moved away to Kentucky or something."

"That is funny." I said.

"What's your room number?" she asks.

"Um, room 116." I replied.

Ding!

The elevator opens and we both got out. Avery was staring at me and smiling at the same time. Kinda creeping me out...

"Are you okay?" I asked, making sure she didn't pass out or anything.

"Oh my god! We're roomies!" she shouts, full of excitement.

Oh joy.

"This is just amazing! I mean, where should I start? Welcome to Orewood?" she says.

"Haha, thanks." I said.

We both got to room 116 and Avery opens the door.

I pushed my luggage cart inside until I stopped and stared at the room.

This room is better than my old and new room back in Albany and at my new house.

Wooden floor but with fuzzy carpets. Yellow and lavender walls. A bunk bed, two dressers (one for me and one for Avery of course), our own bathroom, plasma screen TV on the wall, a couch, two small closets, and other furniture and stuffs.

"Like it?" Avery asks me.

"Yeah, this is such a cool room!" I said.

"Thanks." she says. She plops herself on the couch and looks at me, "Need help with your stuff?"

"I'm good. Thanks for asking." I said.

I dropped my suitcases and bags off of the luggage cart and pushed the cart out in front of the room door.

I walked back in and started unpacking.

"Excited?" asks Avery.

"Kind of. I'm a little nervous too." I said.
