Music starts to get louder as I slowly approached my homeroom. I walked in and saw people hanging around. Some were sitting on desks, guys flirting with girls, and I think I just saw a guy fall asleep on the floor, in the corner of the room.
I walked to a random open seat and sat down. I put my backpack down next to the desk and I tapped my fingers on the desk.
"New girl?" I heard someone ask. I looked up and saw a brunette, looking at me.
"Um, yeah...my name's actually Shay." I replied to her.
"Cool name. Oh and Shay, you're in my seat." she says.
I glanced at the desk and then, back at the girl.
"Oh, sorry." I said. I grabbed my backpack and got out of the seat. I then sat down at the desk, next to it.
The girl sits down and smiles, "New here?"
"Yeah." I said.
"Oh really? Where did you come from?" she asks.
"Albany, New York." I replied.
"That's nice." she says, "I'm Farrah by the way."
"Nice to meet you." I said, smiling at her.
"You're going to love it here, I swear. When I first came here in freshman year, I thought it was going to be the worst four years of my life. But I was wrong. It's amazing here." she says.
"That's nice to know." I said. I glanced around the room and my eyes stopped at the guy, on the ground. I pointed at him and asked Farrah, "Is he okay?"
"He's fine. If you look at him really closely, he's breathing." she replies.
"Oh...okay." I said, still worried.

"Okay, everyone. Be sure to write this down in your notebook and answer it in complete sentences." says my AP Chemistry teacher, Mrs. McLanstry.
She points at the five questions on the board as everyone takes out their pencils.
"Mg 2Ag --> Mg2 aAg. Which substance is oxidized in the reaction?" I heard someone read out the first question behind me.
"Hey Shay." says Trevor, sliding himself over next to me.
"Oh hey, Trevor! I never knew you were in my class." I said, happily.
"Well, now you know." he says, smiling.
"Hi Shay, remember me?" says Darren, next to me.
"Hey!" I said.
"You guys know eachother?" asks Trevor.
"Yeah, he's in my art class." I said.
"That's cool." he replies.
"Do you guys get the first problem?" asks Darren.
"Yup. It's obvious that Mg is oxidized." I said.
"Wow..." I heard Trevor say.
"And you figured that out in how many seconds?" asks Darren.
"I think 2.46 seconds." replies Trevor, looking at his watch on his wrist.
"Science is my strongest subject, I guess. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be here in AP Chemistry." I said.
"That would be true." says Darren.
"Okay, what do you think the answer for the next question is?" asks Trevor.
"Write the equation of calcium metal that is added to a dilute solution of hydrochloric acid." I read the question.
"It's Ca(s) H(aq) --> something..." he says.
"First part's right." I said.
"Is it Ca(s) H (aq) --> Ca2 (aq) H2(g)?" asks Darren.
"Yup." I said, smiling at him.
"Yes! I'm smart!" he says, making me let out a small laugh.
"Next question?" I asked.
"O ?" answers Trevor.
"O2 ." I corrected.
He looks at me and sighs, "Same thing."
"Are you smart or something?" asks Darren.
"I don't know...am I?" I said.
"I'll answer that for you: Yes." says Trevor.
"I was thinking the same thing." says Darren.
"Hey Shay, can I see your schedule?" asks Trevor.
"Sure." I said. I took out my schedule from my homework binder and placed it on the table.
"Hey you're in my lunch and Mythology class." says Darren.
"You're in my lunch too. But we don't have any classes together though." says Trevor.
"At least we have the same lunch." I said.
"Want to sit at my table?" Darren offers.
"Hey, she's my neighbor. She's sitting with me, right Shay?" asks Trevor.
Oh lord.
