Chapter Six

I pulled back and looked at my sister. I felt tears forming but they washed away in the water. She's my exact copy almost everything is exactly the same: black hair, skin tone, and she even had the same color tail. Her eyes, I noticed, are also a sea blue. It must have come with the mermaid thing.

I smiled and she copied me. Selena, you're one of us now!

Yes, I am. How come you never told me this eight years back? I frowned.

I know we shared everything, but Dad wanted to keep it a secret. He didn't know if you were like me or not. And technically, I did tell you. Remember when you were in the hospital because you got a concussion? Maria asked.

I nodded. I told you everything when you were asleep. And that was also the night that Dad and I went missing... Along with a bunch of other mermaids and mermen.

Maria? Do you know what happened to Dad? I figured that if anybody knew any information, it would be her.

Maria shook her head sadly and swam to the couch and sat down. I joined her. I just assumed that he was either killed by the Dark or taken captive since he knew about all of us. I watched you and Mom for a while. I watched your pain and Mom's pain. It was hard. I so badly wanted to pop out of my hiding spot and say: Hey! I'm okay. I am a mermaid but at least I'm alive! Of course, Syrena kept me from doing such disastrous things. Maria chuckled and Syrena smiled.

I missed you so much. I told her. Oh and happy birthday!

Happy birthday to you too! She replied. Well, I guess we can catch up. You can me in with me. I have an extra bedroom.

I looked at her, confused. What? She asked. I was just suggesting you stay with me. If you don't want to I guess thats okay. Maria's face fell.

Maria, I'd love to stay with you, but I think I should stay with Mom. I don't think she could deal with two missing daughters. I said.

Maria copied my confused expression. What? Sel, you can't go back. You're a mermaid now.

Syrena put a hand on Maria's shoulder. Selena can change back to her human self. Syrena explained.

She can? Maria looked at me surprised. I nodded. How?

She's The Deliverer. Syrena explained. Maria's mouth shaped a small "o."

I looked back and forth between them. Yeah, um, Syrena? You never really explained what the hell I'm supposed to do as The Deliverer.

Syrena smiled. It's simple. YOU are the one who can save us from the war that is heading our way. YOU are the one who will win the war. YOU are the one that returns the power to us.

I blinked. I-I-I can't do that. I'm just an average girl. There is no possible way I could do that.

You can, and you will. Right now, you're the most powerful in this whole city. Syrena stated.

But how? I asked.

Maria spoke up. You can change. You're powers are tripled.

Syrena nodded. You could probably control the whole city if you tried. But, please don't.

Maria grinned and I stared at both of them like they were crazy. I don't know...

Don't worry. You have the Light on your side. We can all help you through it. Syrena assured me.
