Chapter 8

Tom and I arrived at the stadium and got out of his car and just as we were about to head our separate ways Tom said...

"I'll meet you for lunch?" Just then I realized I never told Tom about the plans I had made with Danny.

"Oh, um well... I had planned to go to lunch with Danny... Sorry, I forgot to tell you" I trailed off worrying if he would be mad I didn't tell him.

"Oh, ok! Well, maybe tomorrow?" He said with a smile.

"Yeah sure, I'll be planning on it!" I
giggled. I felt so happy inside that he was accepting my choices. Tom and I went our separate ways, I went to the field to see what coach had for me to do today, and Tom went to the locker room to get ready for practice today.

I got to the field and talked to coach for a while and organized some playbook a for the upcoming game. Soon coach came up to me with a basket of practice jerseys and asked me to go give them to the guys. I obliged, cause you know.. It's my job.

With basket in hand I walked into the locker room to see Tom talking to all the guys about teamwork and new plays and whatnot. I didn't really want to interrupt, so I stayed quiet and stood in the back admiring how much these guys cared about football. Soon the talk was over and Tom turned around and noticed me standing there with the basket.

"Well, hey guys... I'm here with your practice jerseys."

"Thanks Nicole" they all said as I left the locker room. I went on to the field to get some more work done for coach and make sure everything was in place for the guys to start practice. The players started to stream onto the field and they began their practice.

Soon enough lunch time came and I was scrambling around cleaning up loose balls and gathering water bottles after practice.

"Wow, we sure do make a mess huh?" A male voice said behind me. Soon enough I realized it was the man I had been dying to see all day. Danny Amendola.

"Yes you do!" I said with a giggle.

"Ready for lunch?" He asked with a cute grin on his face.

"I sure am. I'm starving!" I exclaimed.

"Then we'd best get going before you starve to death!" He chuckled at my exaggeration. And off we went.

The ride to lunch was anything but quiet. Danny and I talked the whole way and learned some things about each other and it was really nice. I've never had someone that I could talk to like this, besides Tom. It took just about 15 minuets to arrive at a cute little cafe just outside Foxboro.

"Well this is it, I hope you're really hungry cause the food is great!

"I'm trusting you Danny! I am very hungry!" I giggled and before I knew it Danny was on my side of the car opening the door for me. As we walked into the cafe he held the door open for me and pulled my chair out for me. "And they said chivalry was dead." I smiled at Danny.

"Well, I try my best to do all the tho has mama taught me." Danny said nervously. Was he ashamed of being such a gentleman?

"I appreciate it very much, Danny." I smiled reassuringly at him.

Soon we ordered our lunch and ate it after the meal we talked some more.

"So Nicole, tell me a little about yourself." Danny said looking at me hopefully.

"Well, lets see... I'm 19 years old, originally from Minnesota. Tom Brady is my "older brother" and I plan to go to college for animal science." He seemed surprised at my answer. "What? Am I too much of a weirdo for you?" I giggled as he looked at me like a kid on Christmas.

"No. No! It's just.. I've never met a girl like you." He said. "It's not a bad thing, it's just I know how you ended up with Tom but I've never met a girl so strong, and so awesome. I've really never met anyone in Boston or Foxboro or anywhere who is wanting to go to school for animal science. Like girl that so cool"

I laughed as he ranted on. "Well, before the accident I was really big into animals and I lived on a farm with my family.. My mom always told me I was gonna do great things in animal science and research and going to college for this is really the only part of my past I can still hold on to." I started to tear up thinking about my family. Soon I was wrapped in a warm embrace.

"Shhhh, Nicole. You are so amazing and so strong. Everything will be just fine. Just keep swimming you know?" I laughed at his Disney movie reference. And looked up at him.

"Thank you for being so amazing Danny, I've never met a guy who didn't become uninterested after I told him my interests." I sniffled still in Danny's embrace.

"You are so amazing Nicole." Soon enough I felt a soft pair of lips on mine and I couldn't have been happier. I can't wait to see where this relationship goes.
