I woke up on the couch, still in Danny's embrace. Weird, I didn't even remember falling asleep.

I squirmed a little to stretch out my body and Danny looked down at me.

"Well gee, it's almost time for bed now, babe." He laughed jokingly.

"How long was I out for?" I asked groggily, noticing the sun was going down.

"A couple of hours. It's almost seven o'clock now."

"Oh." I said as I sat up, with Danny's arm still wrapped around my shoulders. "I should text Tom and inform him I'm still alive. Knowing him he's probably worried sick." I sighed as I reached for the coffee table in the middle of the living room.

I quickly texted Tom:

To: Tommy 🏈💯

Hey bro, I'm still alive so you don't have to worry about me! (;

He quickly texted me back,

From: Tommy 🏈💯

Ok, thanks for the update. I'm going out tonight with Bethany.

I wanted to go home and spend the night with Tom, but I guess that's not gonna happen. So I texted him once more.

To: Tommy 🏈💯

That's fine. I guess I'll stay at Danny's again tonight. See ya tomorrow. ☺️

I set my phone back down and wandered into the kitchen where Danny was.

"Hungry?" He asked

"A little I guess." I sighed.

"Well, I'll cook for you." He smiled at me, but his face soon turned serious. "But first tell me what's wrong. You're not acting like yourself."

"I don't know, Danny." I sighed again. "Just tired I guess." And then I faked a smile.

"You're a really bad liar. You know that?" He chuckled as he came over and sat next to me at the island in the middle of his kitchen. "Now for real, what's bugging you?"

I gave in.

"It's just that Tom has been getting super distant lately, and he's always saying I spend too much time with you and how he still doesn't like the fact that we are dating. And I was going to go home and spend the rest of the night with him, like I usually do, but lately he keeps going out all night. With some friends, or he's got a meeting or something, or he's going on a date. Which I can understand sometimes like stuff happens, and you have to go to a meeting, and you should spend time with your friends and take your girlfriend out on dates and whatnot, but I feel like it always happens when I want to spend time with him now."

Once I finished my rant, Danny looked at me with sincere eyes.

"I know you want to do everything you can to balance your time between everything and you feel like you're neglecting him. You shouldn't worry, I'm sure he's not trying to avoid you, Nicole. And I know for a fact that he loves you to death and he always will. Maybe you should plan a day, just the two of you. That'd be fun, wouldn't it?" He smiled at me as he got up and headed toward the fridge.

"Thanks Danny, I'm so glad I have you. You always know what to say." I said as I got up from my chair. "I don't know what I'd do with out you." I winked as I went back to the living room to grab my phone.

I made it to the living room, but didn't reach my phone before I was grabbed from behind and spun around to meet Danny's lip with my own.

I pulled away, kind of shocked.
