"Be mad at you for what? What is it?" asked Cheryl. She tried her hardest to keep her voice calm but she didn't think she'd ever been so scared in her life. Kimberley didn't say anything.
"You're not... you're not sick, are you?" she asked, her voice quiet. She felt her breath catch in her throat as she asked the question, completely terrified of her answer.
"No" said Kimberley while shaking her head. Cheryl let out a big sigh of relief.
"Then what is it?" she wondered.
"Promise me you're not going to be mad" said Kimberley, holding tightly onto Cheryl's hand.
"I promise" said Cheryl, looking Kimberley in the eyes so she would believe her. Kimberley nodded once, let go on Cheryl's hand and stood up. She slowly reached for the bottom of her own shirt. She breathed in and out deeply before she lift her shirt up, revealing her belly to Cheryl. She stood to the side so Cheryl could see better.
"I don't..." started Cheryl, but she stopped mid-sentence when she noticed the difference. She shuffled along the sofa so she was in front of Kimberley's naked belly. She carefully reached her hand up and placed it on her girlfriends bare skin. Her face was emotionless.
"You're..." Cheryl started to talk again but words failed her as she couldn't believe it. She looked up at Kimberley's face, she nodded down at her with tears streaming from her eyes. Cheryl put her focus back on the belly in front of her and circled her belly button gently with her finger. She leant forwards and placed a soft kiss on the small bump.
She stood up and pulled Kimberley's top back down. She carefully wiped away her girlfriends tears and kissed her on the lips before pulling her into an embrace. Still no more words were spoken as Cheryl took Kimberley's hand and walked to their bedroom. Cheryl undressed Kimberley as carefully as she could before removing her own clothes and laying on the bed, then motioned for Kimberley to do the same.
Kimberley leant her head on the pillow so Cheryl moved down the bed a bit so her head was in line with Kimberley's bump so she could have a better look.
"How long?" Cheryl asked quietly. She placed her hand on her belly and waited for her to answer.
"Three months" replied Kimberley, her voice sounding tired.
"Makes sense" she replied, still staring at Kimberley's belly.
"I didn't mean for this to happen... we always used protection" she said, her voice still showed Cheryl she was worried about how she really felt.
"I'm not angry" Cheryl said, leaning her head up to look at Kimberley.
"Something is still on your mind though, I can tell" said Kimberley, relieved the Geordie wasn't mad that she was carrying someone elses baby.
"Are you going to go back to him?" she whispered. Kimberley was shocked by Cheryl's question. She moved down the bed so they were facing each other again.
"I love you, even if me and him tried, it would never work. I wouldn't want it to anyway. You're all I want" replied the older girl. Her girlfriend kissed her on the lips, relief also washing over her.
"Does he know about... this?" she asked. Kimberley shook her head.
"You're the only person I've told" replied Kimberley. "Thank you for not freaking out" she said after more silence.
"Why would I?" asked Cheryl.
"Just that we're together and well, this has happened" said Kimberley, placing her hand over her own belly.
"It was before we got together, right?" said Cheryl. Kimberley nodded fast. "Then there's no need for me to be angry babe" she kissed her girlfriend before crawling back up the bed.
"We've been here for hours" said Kimberley, glancing appreciatively over Cheryl's nakedness.
"Yeah" she replied, looking over at the time. "You need to tell him" she said. Kimberley sighed.
"I know... argh, this is going to be difficult" ranted Kimberley, feeling nervous already.
"Will you do it in person or over the phone?" wondered the younger girl.
"I'll have to do it over the phone, it will be quicker and can get it over and done with now" she said.
"Good luck babe. I'll be here, okay?" she said as she watched Kimberley put her dressing gown on and leave the room, not before taking another look at Cheryl for encouragement.
